About

Hello. I am Blair.  And this is my glorious journey through pregnancy and motherhood.

Except my name really isn’t “Blair.” (I know, it’s like finding out Santa Claus isn’t real, either.)

And the journey? It is not always so glorious.

In short, I married this amazing, devilishly handsome man back in 2006:

I started this blog in August of 2008 when Nate (the husband) and I decided to ditch the condoms and grace the universe with a spawn of our own. We engaged in ridiculous amounts of the marital act, which knocked me up with the first babe, aka “Harpie.”  After a near-overdose on grilled cheese sammiches and almost 12 weeks of bliss with the baby, we lost Harpie due to severe chromosome abnormalities.

After a subsequent D&E procedure & horrific recovery period, I spent 6 weeks drowning my utter heartbreak in several bottles of Tanqueray and blogging for the masses. Drunk sex led to Harpie Jr., aka Harrison, and our lives had never been more blessed.

On October 14, 2009, I gave birth to this heartbreakingly handsome wee blonde lad:

& so continued the blog, on motherhood after pregnancy.  The joy of my son, the heartbreak of severe postpartum depression & anxiety.  The fight against reflux, the success of all three of us miraculously surviving each other.

I also had to drop over 30 pounds somewhere in all that hot mess, too.  So I blog about being fat, hating fat, & finally saying goodbye to fat.

As a warning, I like to overshare.  I like to use adult language.  I talk about The Momma a lot (she’s my mother).  I like to attention-whore out my life, invent curse words, & devour a plate of chocolate chip cookies in a single sitting.  So hang on to your bums & enjoy the ride as I undertake the single most exhilarating & terrifying journey of my life…

  10. Me too. I can also relate to your loss and recovery period drowing in Tanq (although I chose wine). We were also blessed with a second bean and she was born in July 2009. Just incredible this journey. Who knew?

  12. This is by far my favorite blog! I love reading about your family and seeing pictures of the adorable, Harrison. I cried over your PPD post – I have a 3 mo old daughter and I thank god everyday that I have not had to suffer the way you have. Cheering you on everday!

  20. Hello Blair!

Love your site, now that I know of it will be coming to visit more often!

I have just found out that I'm pregnant (yay!) and have been asking around for some advice on vitamins.

I came across this, bebe-O Prenatal Vitamins and was wondering what your opinion on them is and what prenatal vitamins you took?

    Thank you!!!

    Julie

  21. I love your blog.

I'm so happy I found it!

Though I don't have any kiddos at the moment, I can actually relate to your PPD. I've struggled with just general depression for the past 9 years (good grief!) and it's nice to know (in some respects) that I'm not alone in my crazy anxious trying-to-control-everything world.

I'm in the process of blogging my journey of going through it, too. Though I must admit that I don't have your sass or flair for writing. I'm quite envious. :)

Anyway, thank you. Please keep writing.

In these few moments where I've read parts of your blog… I feel like we have already sat down and had a cup of tea together.

  22. Hi Blair,

I've been a follower ever since I joined The Bump. Your words are always inspiring. I too suffered through a miscarriage and ended up with two beautiful twins now. Your blog helped me to get through the loss and move forward to my wonderful gain. For that I thank you.

You actually inspired me (a little while ago) to start a blog of my own (http://lilbumpkin.blogspot.com) as a space for me to just write whatever comes to mind (mostly about the babes these days).

Anyways, I love your blog. Cheers!

  23. Blog hopping with D-listers this week. Love yours.

I hate celery too … awful veggie, just awful.

  24. Hi Blair,

I am writing this response for Julie who wrote on May 2nd.

I have been taking bebe-O Vegan Prenatal Vitamins (for 5 months now and would never take another prenatal vitamin. It has no taste, no smell and I feel amazing!

Morning sickness was also at an all-time low so I definitely suggest you taking them. Hope this helps!

Love your site Blair, I'm on it all the time!
