Obsessing … cinnamon buns on cold winter mornings.  my little boy on his trampoline.  one tree hill on netflix.

Working …learning the ropes at microsoft.  a marketing plan.  a student blogging program.

Thinking … about where I am going this year.  A new home, a new job, all the possibilities that used to keep me up at night with worry now leave me inspired.

Anticipating … finding a new home.

Reading … re-reading the hunger games. emily freeman’s grace for the good girl.  anita shreve’s light on snow.  jon acuff’s quitter.

Listening … jewel’s childrens album (it’s seriously so good!).  music from curious george 2.  i find that i am lacking my own personal taste in music these days as harrison asks for the curious george soundtrack whenever we get in the car.

Eating … chicken pastry. chili. beef stew.  we’re all about comfort food as winter ends.

Wishing … that i could bottle up this time in our life.

Are you Team Peeta or Team Gale, BA?

Also, I totally agree with the winter comfort foods…we just had a HUGE chili cook-off at church last night. I swear, like 20 crockpots of chili…I almost hurt myself trying to sample them all. LOL. The only thing we didn’t have was some jalapeno cornbread to go with it.

How are people able to read more than one book at a time? I can barely devote my focus on a magazine these days. I’m always in awe of anyone that’s got a library of goodness on their nightstand, other than lowes home improvement free mailer magazine and gardening books, I can’t focus lately.

The season for home buying is approaching. I bet you’re sold and closed and living out of boxes by May. Good luck!

      Viva la boxes!!

It’s weird, I’ve just always read 2-3 books at a time. Also, I tend to re-read books on the regular, so I’ll skip around to my favorite parts when I need a break from a new book I’m reading.

  3. Heather says:

Ugh, Anita Shreve. I read Light on Snow years ago (I tend to read in authors spurts so I read nothing but Anita Shreve for like a year) and just, UGH, Anita Shreve. If you have not read Fortune’s Rocks, PLEASE do (also Sea Glass and The Last Time They Met).

Also, I think its funny you call it Chicken Pastry (that’s chicken and dumplings, right?) My husband calls it that, because its what his mother calls it, and she grew up in the Eastern part of the state (in Four Oaks, about an hour east of Raleigh). So interesting!

Sending house-selling vibes your way! :)

Love that photo – and love that this is such a lovely time of quiet discovery/inspiration for you.

Also One Tree Hill on Netflix? So bad it’s good.

  5. Please do reading reports more often! We have really similar tastes in books, and I want to steal ideas for what to read next from you!

I love Anita Shreve books, and I so love One Tree Hill. I’ve been watching from the start. THis season is crazy!!

  7. Sarah says:

    I love this.
The photo and the list-style post. I’m a fan of lists and I may just steal this idea for a post of my own. :-)

  9. I’m rereading The Hunger Games as well. Totally in love with Mr. Mellark! <3<3<3

  10. Jamie says:

I just finished “The Borrower” by Rebecca Makkai last night. Loved it.

  11. Meredith says:

Just read The Best of Me, Nicholas Sparks. It was OK, a nice balancing departure from the non-fiction I have been reading lately: Greedy Bastards, by Dylan Ratigan**; Toddler ABC Guide to Discipline, by Michelle Smith; Momma Zen, by Karen Miller**; Hopes & Prospects, by Noam Chomsky**; Money Well Spent??, by Michael Grabell. All a variety of Kindle and Audible publications.

I will admit, lately I lack the attention span for books and can barely get through a magazine. A book has to really grab my attention for me to stick with it. I’m glad I’m part of a book club so at least I read once a month!

My favorite book recently was Cutting for Stone, have you read that? I loved loved loved it. And my favorite book of all time is Fried Green Tomatoes. Have you read it? The plot is the same as the movie but the book is 1,000 times better. If you haven’t read it, do so immediately!! Might be time for a re-read myself :-)

Also, Keller Williams has a really fun kids CD that we all love. H and his dad are particular fans of “Mama Tooted.” Hmmm…. =)

  13. Amanda says:

LOVE Anita Shreve and have most of her books or have checked out the rest at the library. Fortune’s Rocks was one of my favorites (as someone mentioned above). I’m also reading Quitter that I got at Blissdom and am LOVING it. :) Waiting on husband to finish Book 1 of Hunger Games so I can read it, as well.

I actually just read the whole series of The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants (4 books) and although I’m almost 34 years old…..they were awesome!!!! I seriously loved them and was sad when they ended. Haha! I tend to mourn the characters in my books when the story ends, but I keep reading and reading and reading again. Have you ever read Wally Lamb’s books? She’s Come Undone is amazing! Very deep and disturbing, but oh so good. My house is like a library. If you are looking for it….I’ve probably got it. Haha!

Love this post. :) Oh! Also, I bought Jewel’s cd for the kids and forgot to give to them at Valentine’s Day. Glad to hear a good report on it, so now I can give it in an Easter basket. I’ve loved Jewel for 17 years now and will always be a fan. (Plus, my husband’s worked with her and said she’s great. ;) )

Dude- I tried to comment on your cleaner post, but apparently it’s illegal or I am ignorant and can’t find it! I know that you have hesitation over whether the sponsered posts will be well received, but trust girl- they will be! Who doesn’t like free crap? And you are sponsered by good products, so go on with your bad self!!

  15. Deidre says:

Woman. Pick up the Kate Morton books, ASAP. There are 3 totally unrelated novels by her, and her best is the most recent — The Distant Hours. Fun stuff for Anglophiles like myself. They’re part family mystery, part historically-inspired fiction. And very library available!
