In our home, we are thankful for the health & well-being of our little boy. We know it could be different & our hearts ache for the families who face uncertainty this holiday season. This year, we’re making it a point to share a little joy & help out the RMHC. We’ve got a pile of diapers & a television ready to go to our local house, who is expanding & needing a little extra help. I’m knee-deep in gathering fantastic prizes for the Winterfest Gala’s 2012 Silent Auction. (p.s. does anyone have an “in” with the Petty family? it would help IMMENSELY!) But there are little ways to help, too, & I thought I would help spread a little cheer in hopes that you will do the same.
First up is the Gingerbread House Themed Season of Giving campaign. For a $10.00 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, it is a crazy-fun way to get in the holiday mood with your small ones.
This is the gingerbread house Harry & I designed!
This year, we are encouraging our supporters to help make home a little sweeter for RMHC families during the holiday season. Imagine how tough it would be to have a sick child in the hospital over Thanksgiving or Christmas. And then imagine how tough it would be to be far away from your home, trying to make sure that your child gets the best care possible. As you know, that’s where our Ronald McDonald Houses and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms step in to help. But as a growing organization, and with the need to help more families during their time of need, we’re asking our supporters to help us make more home sweet homes by donating and decorating a personalized RMHC gingerbread house. A spiced up, dolled up, gum drop, candy cane, and icing filled creation that will show how much you care.
We are hoping to create 1000s of gingerbread houses – a sprawling winter wonderland that will ultimately help us build more Ronald McDonald Houses. ~from my girl Lauren at RMHC

If you are looking for a fun activity as the holidays draw closer, would you consider a small donation & a lesson in giving? Help make the holidays feel a little more like home.

I have a good family friend that has an in with the Petty family, I will see him over Thanksgiving. If you let me know what you need I can pass the message along. I can’t make any promises, but he might be able to help. Send me an email and I will see what I can do.
From your girl, Lauren ; ) LOVE IT! Love the house too! Thanks for helping us spread the word and helping us make more home sweet homes!
All the best to you and your family and happy Thanksgiving!
Do you mean Richard Petty, the racecar driver? I don’t have an “in” with the family, but he did autograph a baseball cap and give it to me as a tip when I worked at the airport. I’m not a big Nascar fan, so if you want to have the cap as a prize it’s yours
