Last night, we pulled in weary at 10pm with an upset toddler & a rowdy dog after six hours on the road total & one wild triplet birthday party.
oh yeah, & a sweaty trip to Ikea on a Saturday.
If you’ve never CRAVED pajamas & bed before, then…well, I just don’t have much else to say to you right now.
It’s like Harrison & Tuck woke up with a mission to be OH MY GOD, AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE!!! starting at 6:30am. A quick breakfast, a running of the vacuum over the floors in case of a showing, dropping off Tuck at my parent’s house, & then we hit the road for Charlotte. We stopped for lunch at this crazy-white trash McDonald’s somewhere out in Nowheresville, NC where they rewarded our donation to the RMHC with a hair in our french fries. THIS IS WHY I DO NOT EAT AT MCDONALD’S. THIS IS WHY I STICK WITH CHRISTIAN CHICKEN (aka Chick Fil A). We whipped into Ikea, I counted the Uhauls in the parking lot (total of six!) & charged up to the children’s section. Harrison’s getting a toy kitchen for Christmas & Ikea is the place to go for play kitchen supplies, since everything is under $7 per set.
& we po’ folk, so we keep it financially real Swedish-style.
Which meant we were late to the triplet’s birthday party, but it’s not like my friends expect me to be on time to anything anymore. They know better.
Of course, we stayed later than anticipated, got a little lost when we missed the 485 beltline because apparently, I can’t read listed instructions. At 10pm, we pulled into the driveway & by 10:15pm, our entire family was sacked. I fought sleep for about 2.5 seconds as I thought, “NOOOO, I shall fail NaBloPoMo!” & it was a decision between posting something like, “ZOMG, so sleepy!” as an excuse for a blog post or keeping it real & just falling asleep.
I think it’s obvious what choice I made.
As penance for my laziness, here’s a shot that my friend Speed grabbed of me & the guys during the party.

Happy Sunday, folks. Hope your coffee is warm & your football is awesome.

I think you are completely justified in missing a day after a Saturday like that! I’m doing NaBloPoMo too, and it’s been a challenge, especially on the weekends & my post yesterday definitely falls into the “just fulfilling the requirements.”. My son is getting a play kitchen too!
I’m barely not failing at NaBloPoMo. I’m not sure how much longer I can hang on! But I think living life is more important, so if I skip a day, not gonna hold it against myself. Sure don’t hold it against you! However, I’d have held a “ZOMG I’m so tired” post against ya.
I’ve totally failed x2 with the 30 Days of Thankfulness on facebook… I think it’s been since the 11th. Ah, well. You’re doing great! Adorable family pic, too!
1. i love LOVE those boots! 2. i also love that you called it “christian chicken”. i am dying a little from laughter. 3. CHARLOTTE!!! whaaa! hometown represent. and i’m headed there tomorrow. loves it.
so, pretty much, i’m all full of love for this post.
The best thing is the Ikea soft play food! It’s perfect for safe food fighting, which will inevitably happen with boys!
That’s a great family photo. It would be perfect for a Christmas card!
I second the vote for this pic on a Christmas card!
My two year old has the Ikea play kitchen sets. Love ‘em. Especially the baking set — mini bundt pan! Mini rolling pin!
Love the family photo! You look awesome, BA!
P.S. I have those boots, too – aren’t they so comfortable & fabulous?!
thank you!! YES. I LOVE those boots. They are perfect for chasing the kiddo around but still feeling pretty.
I think you should tell us where you got the boots. Cause mama want.
I think you absolutely made the right choice. Getting what you need always trumps doing just to say it’s done.
super cute pic. i ALWAYS pick sleep over almost everything else so don’t feel bad. i love your shirt and your boots.
What a great family shot!
Christian Chicken. Loves.
ps.. Harry is to die for!
I have never heard it referred to as “Christian Chicken,” but it is the perfect description! Chick Fil A is the only drive thru for me. It’s sort of embarassing how often we go-cough, every Saturday-cough.
