humming in my heart.

Come thou Fount of every blessing…

a healthy check-up & child at the pediatrician.
a weekend on the farm with my brothers.
employment, even in the hardest of times.

Tune my heart to sing thy grace…

in fresh pink tulips on the kitchen table.
a sippy of milk in the morning while he points out school buses.
a loyal sister to babysit so I may romance & encourage my husband.

Streams of mercy, never ceasing….

even when my coworker steals my ideas & I want to punch him in the face.
when the dog grabs chocolate chip cookies off the counter.
shown as the tornado turns at the last minute, sparing our home.
mercy, please, on a five-hour car ride with a toddler.

Call for songs of loudest praise…

love as the greatest gift of all.
may we remember it always.

This is one of my favorite hymns, sung since before I can remember & flowing through me today.  That’s the cool thing about growing up Southern Baptist – you can sing “How Great Thou Art” before you can say the Pledge of Allegiance.  (there’s also some bummers about growing up “The Convention” but we’ll deal with that another time)

Happy Easter weekend & Passover, my internet friends.
