It just doesn’t feel like my blog without an embarrassing picture, you know?

The scale said that I gained 4 lbs this week, despite going on two runs, Zumba, a Just Dance 2 dance-off, & watching what I eat.  & my skinny jeans still fit.

I give the scale a skeptical side-eye this week.

o

So I bought this gorgeous chocolate brown dress from J. Crew back in January.  It was crazy on sale ($30.00 for the dress & free shipping) but that meant no returns.  I have the same dress in the exact same cut but a different fabric & that dress is a size too big, so I went down a size when I ordered the chocolate dress &…FAIL.  But Nate’s pal is getting married towards the end of May & I’d really like this bad boy to fit for the matrimonial festivities.

oy.  Maybe I should shoot for my 10-year reunion in October instead.

p.s. more insightful mcfatty to come next week.  i’m rushing around trying to pack for the masters, clean the house, finish some work emails, & trying to soak in quality time with harry before i have to miss him for two days.  it’s just crazy-sauce around here right now.

oof. I cannot count the dresses in my closet that don’t fit right now. And I’m pretty sure one or two have price tags on them. But, doesn’t this kill you? If the size above is too big, then logic says the size below will fit. But not be ridiculously small. Dress makers hate woman. REAL woman. I’m done ranting now and ready to link!!

hey, have you tried kayaking? it totally works out your shoulders and back, and its a lot of fun.
my husband surfs and within one surf “sesh” his back looks amazing, but i dont think you’d want to surf this early in the year.. haha
If I were you I’d keep my may deadline and work towards that. its always easier having a set date to meet your goal.

  3. Becky says:

If your pants still fit you’re good!!!

Sizing is insane and completely unreliable so try not to stress about the dress. It’ll fit if you keep at it.

    Have fun this week!

or. . . not to link. boo. :)

Ooh, are you going to the practice rounds?! Do you have badges? I’ll be there this weekend, and I cannot wait. I LOVE looking at all of the gorgeous flowers there.

Kind of wish that we were going to be there the same days and I could bump into you in Augusta…I would die :)

Yes, we’re going to Tuesday’s practice round!!! I’m sad we won’t be there to eat pimento cheese together!

Have you thought of doing Jillian Micheals 30 Day Shred? Or something similiar. It is all about losing inches.

  7. Megan says:

I’d want to punch that scale in the face. But the fact that your jeans still fit is simply awesome. I say go by fit and feel today, not by scale.
I ran 20 miles yesterday (marathon training) and somehow gained a pound over the weekend, so I don’t like the scale today either!

i need to fit into my dresses by wedding season. We’ve already had one and we have FIVE more to go to this year. One I am in, but the other 4? I need my dresses to fit, damn it!

I tried on a pair of pants in a dressing room this weekend that I was sure were going to fit. The muffin top I had in them was actually pretty hilarious.

I don’t understand store sizing anymore. Congrats on getting in all that exercise last week!

    • heirtoblair says:

      I DID THAT, TOO!

I went into Old Navy to see if I could find some shorts for the Master’s & I picked up what I thought would be a size too big (based on the size jeans I wear) because I like my shorts to be loose. Ummm…hello muffin top & squeezing on my thighs. I walked out of there with no shorts.

I think that slow and steady wins the race ( as you already know).
Once you find something that you really can stick with I think the pounds will come off. And don’t diminish how much alcohol plays in to your body and it’s ability to burn fat.
I know you don’t want to subscribe to any type of diet right now, but maybe you should make up your own called
” for two weeks I’m not going to eat or drink anything that comes from a box or bottle”
Which would essentially leave you with fruits, veggies, meats, and water.

psha. i went into j crew this weekend & eyed several cute dresses.

i told myself i would look so fab in all of them- I IS SKINNY DER!

then my super tall & skinny (for real) & model bodied friend tried on the one i loved & it looked like the designers at J Crew had made it specifically for her.

seriously- it was like they sat around their table & said, “this dress shall be made for…BECCA!”

so let it be written. so let it be done.

    well. shit.

needless to say- i walked out empty handed while she scored a $160 dress for $89.

  12. Wendy says:

You’re going to be in my neck of the woods! I am about ten miles from the course! Have a wonderful time at the Masters! I worked it a couple of years ago and had a blast just meeting different people.

  13. Mae says:

I also bought a dress from J Crew during that crazy clearance sale a couple months ago and it also was non returnable and it also is other than a perfect fit.

But. I have until July before I need to fit into it for the wedding I bought it for.

That chocolate color is going to be great on you!

  14. Miranda says:

I am so glad that most of my friends are married so our obligations to attend weddings are coming to an end for the foreseeable future. Except I’m a bridesmaid in May. And I’m 29. And the other bridesmaids? Are wee babes who haven’t even cracked their 20s yet because my 18 year old cousin is marrying her Marine fiance.

AND I AM IN THE WEDDING. And I have to wear a red satin dress. This is going to be mortifying.

I feel you on the dress thing. And on the WTF is up with sizing thing.

  15. I feel your pain … I have a whole bin of clothes in the basement that are ADORABLE and all springy … yet, I can’t fit into them yet. Actually, embarassingly enough, I have SEVERAL bins of different sized clothing down there, just waiting to be worn. *sigh*

  16. stacey says:

Sizing does suck sometimes :( I bought a pair of skinny jeans and I had to go up three sizes from my normal size for that brand :( Did you consider maybe you gained muscle and that explains the weigh gain? You did do alot of exercising….maybe it’s your muscles swelling up :)

  17. Jesse says:

Oh my goodness, I am not kidding, this exact same thing just happened to me like last week! I need a chocolate brown dress for a wedding this summer (we get to pick out the style just needs to be brown) so naturally I went straight to Jcrew, but before I chose a size, I tried on a dress that I have that is almost the style (from Jcrew), but it is way too big for me, so I ordered a size down… it doesn’t fit…some B.S. that is! I feel your pain!

  18. Heather says:

What ever happened with C25K? I started doing it because it was mentioned on your blog and sounded interesting, and I’m up to week 6.

  19. Alexandria says:

I’m sure you’ll be able to do it. Motivational vodoo is coming your way ;-)

And if all else fails pin each side with a safety pin to your bra & wear a cardigan LOL

  20. elz says:

Spanx baby. That should do the trick. Or else, just wear a shrug. Whatever it takes, $30 is too good to pass up.
