psssh.  Quit bringing that weak “Peanut Butter Patties” action.

You shall always be Tagalongs.

(& I shall not be tempted by you)

  1. Steffanie says:

I’ll send you tagalongs if you send me PB patties! I grew up with them that way and when I moved East it was too weird.

  2. LCW says:

    Tagalongs for.evah!

  3. Sarah says:

Tagalongs are my favorite! They also tempt me. I may or may not have consumed an entire box in 1 week recently….this lead to many hours on the treadmill and still to gain 1.2lbs that week….damn you girl scout cookies…damn you!

  4. olivea says:

I polished off a sleeve of thin mints last night in less than 10 minutes. It was not one of my finer moments.

  5. seriously!! why are they renaming all the gs cookies??

  6. veronika says:

today when we were grocery shopping, I was secretly praying there would be girl scouts and thin mints available for my purchase…and now i’m kinda glad they weren’t there because the last thing I need is another thin mint binge fest.

  7. Wynnsmomma says:

    Pure evil, delicious, delicious evil.

  8. Ugh, I just ate all fifteen tagalongs in one sitting the other day. FIFTEEN. Fifteen cookies. In one sitting.

  9. bonzer-christina says:

HA! you’re funny with your scouts honor non cookie eating pledge!

  10. Tagalongs! There are only something like 20 cookies in a box now. I have avoided buying a box this year…so far.

  11. Crystal says:

Actually the name hasn’t been changed. There are 2 companies that make girl scout cookies. Different troops may use one company or the other. The original company makes the Tagalongs and Samoas and all the popular brands, and the other company makes basically the same cookies but with a different name. The thing is…they DON’T taste the same…at least most of them don’t. (I don’t eat tagalongs so I don’t know) It’s a different recipe, so just like keebler hasn’t been able to perfect the Samoa, neither has the new girl scout cookie company.

This is from the Girl Scouts: Girl Scout Councils choose their licensed baker, either Little Brownie Bakers or ABC Bakers. Each of the bakers owns its cookie names, except Thin Mint, which is in the common domain. So a cookie like the Trefoil / Shortbread may look and taste similar, but your local Girl Scout council determines which one will be on the market when they select their baker.

The newer brand is less expensive for the troops, but of course not as popular.

FWIW, don’t ever get the “Peanut Butter Sandwiches” (Dosidos). They are not the same and aren’t nearly as good!

  12. Susan Fowler says:

Yup- different baking companies! I’d always called them Peanut Butter Patties & Caramel Delights until I moved to GA and my world flipped upside down. I kept talking about how they changed the names and everyone looked at me like I was crazy!

  13. Ashley says:

They were always Peanut Butter Patties when I was in Girl Scouts!

Either way, I’m a lucky (not really) that there weren’t any girl scouts hitting me up to buy cookies this year. I absolutely have to eat a minimum of three per sitting :-) .

  14. Rachel says:

I gave in and just bought 3 boxes tonight! I can’t resist the samoas!

  15. Kourtney Payton says:

lol i just sat down with a box of those…

  16. Rebecca says:

Mine (and my son’s) favorite! I even order them as Tag-a-long, I didn’t even know they changed the name. Although it does explain the weird look the girl scout outside of the grocery store gave me when I asked for a box. Her mom had to grab them and hand them to her to give to me.

  17. Megyn says:

Here’s a little secret…when GS cookies are not available, you can get Peanut Butter Newman-O’s that take JUST like Tagalongs w/out the chocolate coating…you can even dip them in melted milk choco chips to make your own version of Tagalongs.

  18. Rachel says:

Just remembered I ordered 3 boxes of those that should be delivered soon!

  19. Kristina S. says:

I love me some peanut butter patties! I don’t care what name they are under…I just want them!

  20. Tagalongs fo evah!!

& yeah there are only like 10 cookies in each box this year.

  21. Erin says:

yes, they will always be tagalongs. i found the girls scouts this weekend finally – and picked up 2 boxes of thin mints and 1 box of samoas. clearly i have no will power. although the huz hid them in our house for the time being ;) i’m okay w/ that. in moderation right!

  22. Erin Smith says:

I was devastated when the names “changed.” The cookies will forever and ever be Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils and Dosidos. Thank god Thin Mints are still Thin Mints.

  23. Elaine says:

I bought some too but as soon as they get here they are leaving and going with the hubs to his offices. CANNOT have Simoas in my HOUSE!!! ACK!

  24. Laurie says:

Absolutely!! and also Samoa’s will never be caramel delights! The new names are terrible!

  25. Lauren says:

You can have them year round! I buy store bought shortbread cookies and top with peanut butter sweetned with powered sugar and a little vanilla. Dip carefully in chocolate almond bark. Delicious!

  26. Ash says:

I have a box with me right now at work. Isn’t that terrible?

  27. totally just scarfed down five tagalongs. they were good. I dedicate them to you.
    love,
    jen
