Tucker is your best friend.

A stuffed monkey follows at a close second.

But nobody beats Daddy.

At not quite 24 lbs, you’re still in the light weight group of the 40th percentile.

But you make up for it in height by ranking in the 90th.  You come by that honestly, kid.

A Southern boy, you love sweet tea & will eagerly sip from anyone’s glass.  I know I should have some Momma Guilt over it, but it’s so darn cute.

I miss your curls.

Inquisitive & serious, you are purposeful in everything you do.

But sometimes I can tickle you into silliness.

You got your first shiner yesterday when you slipped on the porch stairs.  Honestly, I’m shocked it took you this long because you dive into life head-first.

I love that about you.

Valentine’s Pledge.

Today, I shall not eat bagels provided for the holiday. I will stay away from the bowl of Hershey’s Kisses in the work room. I will limit myself to one red velvet cuppycake, lovingly made by my husband for dessert. I will not run to Target & stock up on 50% off candy, or validate the need for a bag of fun-sized Snickers because they’re “such a steal.”

Tonight, I will make a homemade meal that is healthy & yummy instead of turning to a frozen Stouffers lasagna & Texas Toast. If the weather stays mild past Harrison’s bedtime, I may lace up my sneakers & pound the pavement for the first time in weeks. Instead of lounging on the couch because it’s a “holiday” with Gossip Girl, I will challenge my husband to a Just Dance 2 duel & burn off my love handles.

Because I have made healthy choices throughout the day & revved up my endorphins, I will not feel ashamed or shy at the end of the day when it’s time to get my lovin’ on. Instead, I will embrace the stretch marks & know that I am making choices to be healthy, fit, & whole. & that makes me sexy & worthy of his attentions.

Today, I will not get wrapped up in celebrating a Hallmark holiday that urges me to love others. Instead, I will make wise choices that will help me love myself all year ’round.

Signed,
Me
