Harrison’s curls were OUT. OF. CONTROL. I don’t have a before picture because my camera died (aka I kept forgetting to re-charge the battery), but the kid was peering out from under bangs that almost swept his nose while curls brushed the top of his collar.
Translation? He was starting to look like a girl.
So I took him in for a haircut & he sat on my lap playing with my phone while I’m pointing out the remaining rat tail to the gal with the scissors & she’s all, “More off the sides? Yes?” & I’m like, “NO. RAT TAIL. GET THE RAT TAIL.” & she’s all ::snip snip:: off the front until all the precious curls are gone.
It was over a week ago & my heart still hasn’t healed from the piles of wispy blonde curls, lying on the floor of the salon.
Be still my heart!!! So so so so so cute.

But I so know how you feel – when I cut my baby boy’s hair for the first time, chopping off his mullet……it broke my heart. But DH couldn’t stand his natural grown mullet and it had to go. What is it about our little boy’s hair?

He looks so much like my son. I’ll never forget the day my husband and I decided our little boy was starting to look a little girly and decided he should have a haircut. I went out to run some errands and came home to find my baby boy with a BUZZ CUT. Hubby had done it himself in the garage. My sweet bugaboo hasn’t had a blond curl since.

My baby is 14 months and has the sweetest ringlets on the back of his head that look completely awful if I don’t wet his hair down daily. I know it should be cut but I’m clinging to those curls desperately as a means to hold on to the baby-ness. I know they won’t grow back once my lamb is shorn. So sad.

He looks so grown up! Mommy says I aged about 3 years in the 5 minutes it took to get my first hair cut… He has much thicker hair than I do – I’m a little bit jealous!

Man! While I waited for the pic to load on my phone, I had images of crew cuts and the like. But he still has tons of hair! I’m jealous. Jack has such thin hair. It only curls in the back a teeny bit. My dad still has a full head of hair. But my hair didn’t get crazy til puberty, so I’m still holding out hope.

OMG, he looks so much more grown up in this picture. And those eyes are just amazing. My little boy’s a month older than Harrison and I am still clinging to his baby curls. I freaked out over your post from back in December about the hair cut, but this is so much more. I just know I’m going to cry when I finally take Liam in to get his crazy wispy curls cut. Especially since I almost did when I had to trim his bangs. Ah, they grow up too fast.
So funny … I have trimmed my 16 month olds mullet but he really does not have enough hair to get it cut! We just have mullet curls in that back that I try to trim myself…

This is the reason I am very deliberately ignoring the blond little mullet my 13 month old is rocking. I don’t think my heart can take cutting those little blond curls off!

He is adorable!! I agree – the haircuts make them look SO grown up. We just took J for a cut last week and when I saw him I started crying. My baby looked like a BOY.
We cut off Bowen’s curls at 5 months – he’s had 4 hair cuts since then. All of the curls are in a ziploc bag in his baby book. I miss them!

I am riding the same boat with you!! My nine month old went in yesterday for his first hair cut, all of the curls are gone and suddendly it feels like he is getting ready to heading off to get married!
Also for a rant, why is that the gals that are clipping the little kids hair do not listen to said childrens parents when we say what we want done?
