I have a really embarrassing confession – I’ve had the same beauty routine since I was 13 years old. & I mean, the same beauty routine. You know Clearasil? yeah. I’m still using it. & it’s not that I even have terrible breakouts. & you know bar soap that you keep in your shower? Sometimes I use that. On my face. & I have never moisturized.
oops.
So my friend Suzi came over to rescue my face from the torture that is Irish Spring. Suzi is a Mary Kay consultant & I know exactly what you’re thinking – “Come on, Blair. Mary Kay?!” I was skeptical at first, & then Suzi came over & started working on me. She completely knows the product, believes in it, & plunged me headfirst into scrubbing my face with an anti-aging product.

(hold the phone…anti-aging already?! egads. I guess we did just go to Nate’s high school reunion.)
We started with the 3-in-1 cleanser, which has these amazing little beads that help scrub the dead stuff off your face.
Those aren’t technical terms.
The second layer is either the day solution, which has SPF to keep the wrinkles & sun damage away (so important, especially here in the South). Or the night solution, which is ultra-hydrating & gives your face this amazing fresh tingle. & then, of course, you smooth on the moisture lotion.
& this came at the perfect time. I was two seconds away from writing a post about how I wish I was one of those that always looked pretty & put-together & remembered to brush her hair half-way through the day. & how tired I look these days & I’m not sure if it is motherhood or working plus motherhood or the depression. But I have looked haggard & blotchy & completely frumpy. I needed an afternoon to just feel pretty & look rejuvenated & Suzi gave me that (thank you, Suzi!!!)
So here I am one week into Mary Kay’s TimeWise program:

& this is me last night, straight out of the camera. No make-up. Zero smoothing, editing, or photoshopping.
I didn’t even Picnik that shit. holla, cross process!
I’m not flawless. (I’ve never claimed to be) But my skin? It looks 100 times better in this past week alone. It’s smoother & make-up is gliding on so much easier & staying put so much longer. I look more perky & flushed & glowy. Hello, moisturizer! Where have you been my entire life?
Also? Nate loves how my face smells. It’s kind of weird, but I dig it.
My picks, other than the TimeWise line? This eyeshadow in Silver Satin & this mineral make-up. Let me sound pretentious & pretend that I know what I’m talking about & say that the Silver Satin is simply delicious for fall.
So anywho, if you feel like trying some Mary Kay stuff & proving that it’s not just for old ladies, go here & browse around. When you check out, enter the code HeirtoBlair & 15% of your entire purchase will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Shipping is totally free & satisfaction is 100% guaranteed.
& you’ll also be entered to win a beauty product from Mary Kay (drawn on 10/8). If you don’t do Mary Kay but know someone who does, pass the word so we can raise some funds for RMHC

Your skin really does look like it’s glowing!
:::::::::running for the hills::::::::::
I love you Blair, but no way.. I can’t handle Mary Kay endorsements. I feeling like I’m hanging out with my mother in law now. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I swore I wouldn’t like it! Swore it!
but dude…my skin? It looks better than it ever has. I DIE.
I LOVE MY MARY KAY.
and I’m 24.
What does that say about me?
that you probably have very good skin. ::bangs gavel
Blair, you read my mind. I was actually thinking the other day how I should maybe start developing a “real” routine. I only clearasil it now also. I’ll be 30 next year and while my mom has aged well with no skin care routine, I’ve probably had more stress in my life than she did at this age and don’t want to look haggard at 35.
Now you’ve got me thinking, as usual…
okay, so I’m gonna go off on a tangent here , which isnt’ really about mary kay so much, but here I go. ( I feel like I need to just get this off my chest)
So, when I was 20something I was a vet-tech at an animal emergency clinic. I worked from 6pm until 8 am 3 nights a week.
In the building next to us was a Mary Kay warehouse of sorts ( where the dealers picked up their goods and held their pow-wows)
So , they would park in front of our door. I mean, right in front of the e-clinic door. I remember this one dog came in, he was totally agonal and in mid-seizure. I got him on a stretcher and the vet in I started to wheel him in.
the mary kay consultant blocked our entry. We thought we could get around, but we couldn’t. We picked the dog up (again, mid seizure, hello kick and claw to my face by an 85 lb lab)
The dog owners ran next door and yelled for them to move their car. The mary kay ho rolled her eyes, strolled outside and moved her car at her own pace.
meanwhile, their dog died in the parking lot…
When we confronted the mary kay people, they said they had to park in front of our door because it was well lit and they were afraid of “being like raped or attacked and stuff”
Was it her fault? no. But ever since then I’ve had this vendetta against mary kay.. and then my mother in law started selling it, (did I ever tell you about the woman who gave me maternity pajamas as a consolation gift for having a miscarriage?) so needless to say, I have a thing against mary kay, admittedly it’s irrational… I just had to confess all that. Sorry for dragging the post down and sorry if anyone is offended!
back to your regularly scheduled face peeling.
LOL!
holy shart balls.
umm, I’d probably have a vendetta, too.
Fantastic! Exfoliating (the scrubby things that take the dead skin off your face) is super important!
Just please don’t do it every day. My dermatoligist says every second day. Dead skin doesn’t build up *that* fast, and if you exfoliate every day your just scraping off layers of healthy skin
P.S I don’t know if you use makeup, but if so, use MAC Prep n Primer before you put on foundation! It makes your skin take the foundation sooo perfectly!
Yay! Mineral Powder… love that stuff!
Loves Mary Kay, have used it for years. However I’m still using the Velocity stuff for tweens/teens so maybe it’s high time I change over to the adult version since I am 32, married, and foster mom to 2 beautiful little girls.
Mary Kay makes my face break out. I should probably find something though. Your post makes me feel as if I should up my face routine.
I love Bare Minerals makeup personally. The foundation primer is excellent.
Your skin looks amazing though!
I use a mix of Mary Kay and Bare Minerals. I got these nasty forehead wrinkles during grad school. Mary Kay makes this targeted action line reducer that makes them disappear. LOVE that stuff.
I did have a friend drag me to a Mary Kay meeting one time (like where all the sales people get together). OMG, those people are trippin’ on something good. I avoided all Koolaid type beverages while there.
All I’m gonna say is:

‘nough said.
$90???????? I think I’ll stick with my washcloth and warm water.
I love Mary Kay. I only use the foundation and the acne spot cleanerstuff. The acne thing is the ONLY thing I have found to work and clear up zits quickly. I do enjoy their face scrubs but I don’t like spending money on makeup and crap like that in general but splurge now and then. I love how the foundation makes my face look.
Yuck. Sorry, this stuff is HORRIBLE for you.

Try Kate Somerville. It’s a lot less hazardous.
My mother has worn Mary Kay for years and is now a consultant. I’ve been using their products since about the age of 15 and now use the product exclusively and am 26. I’ve found that using the products together really aids in the final outcome. Great stuff!!
SWEET Thanks for sharing!
I started using Mary Kay out of guilt. I was gifted a day of free makeup on my wedding so I bought their face wash and face lotion. BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE. I love how my skin feels when i use it. I’ve been using it for 2.5 years and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
I’ve been using Mary Kay for 6 yrs now – love it! I only use the Timewise 3-in-1 cleanser and the daily moisturizer. But MK is the only moisturizer that I’ve found that doesn’t make my face feel like it’s greasy and dripping with oil. Yes, it’s a little more expensive, but it lasts me a long time. Good for you for trying something new – and making yourself feel beautiful in the process
I’ve been using Mary kay for about 4 years now. I love it. The only thing I don’t like is their mascara and scented body washes (like the lotus tea and all that) for some reason. Other than that…good stuff.
My fave is the tinted moisturizer.
i don’t like mary kay, but i do use a 100 spf moisturizer, plus a soy protein based anti aging moisturizer PLUS i exfoliate 2x per week. the other mornings i rinse with cool water and at night i use acne wash. …sigh… i’ve been doing this for (close to) 10 years and i am only 26.
my mom used to drill it into my skull about wearing sunblock-EVERYDAY-even-in-the-winter-blah!….and i listened so thanks mom for helping me avoid some wrinkles! hahaha….
but i am glad to see you are starting w/your own regime.
awesomeness.
I had 2 sister in laws and an aunt in law all start selling Mary Kay at the same time about 3 years ago, so needless to say I was kind-of forced into a change. But, I LOVE my Mary Kay now! I love the 3-in-1 cleanser and the daily moisturizer and the Microderm Abrasion kit is a-mazing! I, like a previous poster, am not too keen on the mascara but I love the concealer and all of the eyeshadows that I’ve used. Even DH likes the cleansers/moisturizers/microderm abrasion.
YAY for doing something for yourself and making yourself feel great. You are beautiful anyways but now you’re radiant!
I love my Mary Kay. Its the one thing my husband doesn’t mind me spending $$ on. He says its an investment for our future.
)
You should try the smooth hands kit. I can’t remember the exact name of it. Its in orange tubes/bottle. My husband uses it every day.
