Past the whole obnoxiousness that is Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden.

But really, standing around staring at a white ball like it holds the secrets to world peace?

& the amount of profanity that comes out of the man I married when he shanks a ball?
I don’t think they were thinking of the f-dash-dash-dash word when they coined it Gentlemen Only, Nate.
(ha. He shanks a ball. that’s just funny to say)

But he swears he loves it. & he keeps on going back. & I secretly love watching him play – the intense focus, the skill, the constant drive for improvement. Golf isn’t sexy. But my husband makes it a pretty damn good aphrodisiac.
On days like today, when the weather is crisp & clear, I can’t blame him for spending hours on the greens.

But I hope one day, I’ll watch my boys play together the way Nate does with his father.
& I hope that he’ll one day shape Harrison’s character with golf the way he has been molded – with honesty, loyalty, perseverance, & a sense of pride in his craft.

I always thought it was stupid too- until I started to play, and now I’m an addict. I have a son and I wanted to do at least one thing with him that he would like!
AWESOME! Nice pics BTW! They will be something to cherish.
I can NOT believe how green your trees still are down there!
DUDE! I totally get it. Golf? It’s weird.
But one day Cort was outside with E. E disappeared into the garage and came out with a golf club (that is an old one that Cort uses to get the flag untangled) and an old golf ball. He threw the golf ball and then TRIED TO HIT IT WITH THE CLUB.
I have never–in all of E’s 15 months–seen Cort more proud. And that includes the day E was born.
Golf? It’s got some kind of hold on our guys.
But that hold is sort of neat.
Saw a cute plastic golf club set for toddlers at toysrus yesterday…. Possible bday present.
1. The husband hit one of our sliding glass doors this weekend hitting golf balls in the back yard…that’s when golf led me to profanity.
2. Classic line from my father in the middle of a game with my husband and brother: “I love this game. I love this game. I love this f***ing game.”
3. Somehow every time my brother plays…he hasn’t “been this bad in a long time”!
Still, I get it and I don’t begrudge the man time…I’ll take my time at the spa though, and they don’t get that. So it’s even.
Oh, Blair. I TOTALLY disagree with the ladies excluded portion. I really hope that’s just a perception and not a rule of thumb in your neck of the woods cause it’s a great bonding tool for me and my girls and I LOVE golf. It’s therapeutic and no one is really ever good. I hope your hubby gets you addicted soon…. nothing’s better than smacking the crap out of a small ball while drinking a cold beer and spending 4 hours in the outdoors with some girlfriends.
Haha I don’t understand golf either! And honestly, it takes a lot of skill but I don’t consider it a sport because a lot of times you sweat more from the weather than the activity itself!
I totally don’t get it either. I especially don’t get how people can watch it on t.v…it is soooo boring….to me anyways.
I’m married to an avid golfer, too, and am hoping Seth takes up the sport like his daddy.
I couldn’t agree with you more! My husband is obsessed with it. & it probably doesn’t help that father in law owns part of a golf course around here which means golfing for free.
Ugh.. maybe also I’m just a little jealous that he’s never taught me.
Thankfully, my darling husband is only moderately concerned with sports, and hasn’t left me a “golf widow” (as it’s known in my family)…but everyone else on my side is totally obsessed. Putt-putt is more my speed
So, did Nate call in sick to watch the Ryder Cup today? (yeah, my parents totally did)
The only good I do is hold down the golf cart. And I do a pretty great job at it, if you ask me!
Reading this I thought it was highly enlightening. I appreciate you spending some time and energy to put this short article along. Just as before I find myself spending excessively enough time both browsing and also placing comments. However so what, it had been still worth it!
