I have a secret.

It’s a juicy, delicious secret that I like to wrap around me & snuggle up with.  I hold it close to my heart & let it simmer like a warm cup of tea.    It’s what I imagine a Snuggie would feel like, if I didn’t hate their mere existance with the passion of 1,000 burning suns.

Seriously, every time I pass a Snuggie in a store, I want to punch Bambie in the face.  But then I think, “Blair, you would probably like a Snuggie.  GIVE A SNUGGIE A CHANCE.”  But then I’m all, “Do I really want to spend $20 on a backwards bathrobe that’s not even monogrammed?”

This secret?  It is the best thing about my existance these days.

I like being a mom.

I LIKE BEING A MOM.

These squirties?  They’ve started representing everything that is fun & pure in my life.

Those days where I gritted my teeth & forced myself through bathtime, wishing I was somewhere, anywhere, but that little blue bathroom?  Gone.  Now I figure that it’s not a decent bath until Nate & I also come out of it half-soaked.

I grabbed my camera the other night, because I realized that I didn’t have enough bath pictures.  So much time to make up.  So many laughs to capture.  & then I get all tingly in my soul about all the years of laughter to come.

Because being a mom?  It effing rocks.  & I say that at the risk of sounding like one of those douchebags that can’t leave their Facebook status alone without writing, “I have the greatest kids ever!  Being a mom is always wonderful!”  Because really?  Everyday?  Shut up.

    <3!!!
We also have that bathtub duckie. He needs to be cleaned, however, because a certain little lady decided it needed to be decorated with her poop.

Not naming any names or anything.

  7. LOVE this post! I’ve been feeling this way about Laura lately – and it’s the best feeling in the world!!!!!!

Such a great feeling – particularly after such severe PPD. Lovely :)

  9. Cole says:

Yay! Look how blue H’s eyes are in that last pic! Oh, and I have that same duck tub! :)

  10. Sarah says:

There is nothing better than a freshly bathed babe. Those damp little curls make me want to fall down dead with adorable-ness overload.
Thanks for continuing to share your PPD journey. It is really really brave and really really fab to hear about these seemingly minor joys.

  11. Betsy says:

So I take it there’s no more screaming after bath? My daughter is 10.5 months and still cries after every.single.bath! I guess that’s an improvement though compared to the bloody murder scream it used to be.

  12. Madorie says:

He looks just like you in these pics. =)

  13. HI! I share the same secret with ya! haha…reminds me of a blog post I wrote recently:

  16. Being a mom is difficult, but you are right – it rocks. BTW – I have a leopard print snuggie and it is fabulous :)

  17. What a beautiful secret! Glad you’re able to be all the things you wanted to be in the beginning. You seem like such a wonderful mommy.

  18. Jessica says:

Our little guy is just a few weeks older than H, and we dropped the little bath tub a long time ago. And he LOVES IT SO VERY MUCH. So, just an idea! It’s scary at first, but oooh, how they love it. And! Then, you can get one of these and rock their little baby world:

  20. Marianne says:

Insert the biggest smily face you have ever seen.

    Love everything about this post.

And Harry, um, Hi. You are the most gorgeous little boy I’ve ever seen. Your eyes and curls are going to do some serious heart breakin’ when you get older. But that’s ok, because the only lady you need in your life for a long time is your beautiful momma.

  21. Janna says:

Do you still find yourself vulnerable? I feel like I used to be so confident in everything I did and now I second guess things.. I love being a mom but I am still weak (i guess is the word) …. Like PPD/A kicked me in my ass hard…

  22. LauraMolSteck says:

This is the cutest thing I have ever read…….so very sweet (minus the snuggie,….freaking hate those things). Love your secret!!

  23. SusanK says:

WOW!!! That bathtub LOOKS FUN! Harrison’s got a good gig going – it looks like a waterpark :) :) :) :)
    Fun times!

  24. Katie says:

lions driving cars? seriously? nothing compares.

  25. Nikki says:

You’re totally missing out on snuggies. It’s cloth amazingness. Seriously. Forget the backwards robe analogies. They are AMAZING.

Anyhoo. Harrison? A doll. Bath time looks so much fun. So glad you’re so doing so well! :)

    XOXO from GA,
    Nikki

  26. J. says:

Snuggies are proof that god loves us. I’m actually wearing one right now as I type this.

  27. Charlotte Anne says:

The curls… I swoon. And snuggies, although RIDICULOUS, are SUPER comfy. My sister bought me one (I refused to buy my own) but they are AWESOME for those ncarolina chilly nights on the porch!

  28. Becky says:

Love that you posted this – those pictures are incredible. (And I hate snuggies too).

  29. Laura W. says:

Aww, what a sweet post! And I love the Harrison photos. You must have the hardest time keeping your hands out of those insanely gorgeous curls of his.

  30. Krista says:

Snuggies smell like chemicals and feel like airline blankets. I know, I’ve touched one. And I’ll never do it again. So, your hatred is acceptable. Unless you make one. I made one for my sister and my nephew, and you get to pick out your own fleece (I chose muppets for them) and it’s way comfier. (comfier? comphier? word?) It’s pretty much the only thing I’ve ever been able to make on a sewing machine.
And ps. your child? One of the cutest little boys ever. I always smile when I see him. Not in a creepy way, but in a “that Blair is so lucky to have that adorable blond baby” way.

  31. I heart those wet baby curls :-) Bath time is such a sweet time of day!

  32. Shahny says:

Aww cute. i cant wait to be a mom, and like it lol
