I hate ragweed.

It makes my head pound.
& my eyes water.

Even the back of my throat itches.
& on Saturday, I tried taking Benedryl on top of my daily Zyrtec.
I couldn’t feel my face for six hours.

If that wasn’t enough, my eyes are so bloodshot that I look like a pothead.
But I swear, I’ve never done drugs.
Like, not even in college.
& not just in an “I didn’t inhale” way, Mr. Clinton.

What was I talking about again?
Oh, yeah.
I really, really hate ragweed.

My allergies are AWFUL. And I’m out of Zyrtec. My break next week is going to be interesting.
Hope you feel better soon.
I concur.
Optivar is a glorious eyedrop that gets rid of eye itches. GLORIOUS.
my husband is miserable from his allergies and we think our baby has them too, but since he’s not 2, he can’t take anything
i’m sorry you suffer from them too!
Zyrtec + Flonase helps tremendously for me. It’s gotten ugly around here since I’m pregnant and can’t take the Flonase right now.
LOL HAHAH. You are adorable Blair.
1. Ragweed is of the devil
2. I’ve never done drugs either
3. Benadryl is sent from Heaven–just like Xyzal, Singulair, Flonase and Sudafed. My daily cocktail lately.
Hope you feel better soon
ME TOO!
Sorry you’re feeling so miserable – hope it goes away soon!
AMEN
I’m right there with you. A benadryl every night and I still wake up at 3am sniffling and sneezing. My husband really loves me right now. Not! Zyrtec every morning, just so I can stop sneezing long enough to drive to work. I’ve actually sneezed 3 times typing this post. Gotta love a dry NC summer and fall.
Ugh…is that what’s going on out there? I’m in NC also and have been having the same pounding head, itchy throat, sore/red eyes, etc.
It is of the devil no joke…
My dad has that ragweed thing – it made him miserable to be around growing up, and we always wanted to send him away for the month of August (when it hits ’round here). I feel for you. And for Harrison and Nate…
I’ve been on Benedryl for the last 3 or 4 weeks…multiple times a day. I am walking zombie and even though we’ve had cooler weather (I’m up in Chicago) our a/c is still on. I cannot wait for the first/second frost!
Poor thing! Hang in there!
i totally hear you! i’ve been so completely miserable bc of all the damn weeds! i’m not ready for winter, but i can’t take much more of this!
This allergy season has been really bad up here too. I’m actually looking forward to colder weather so I don’t want to rip out my ear drums.
Ha! My husband has terrible allergies and I’m always commenting on how it looks like he smoked pot. His eyes are always so bloodshot. Of course that might also be because we have two babies that won’t farking sleep!
p.s. I will trade you one case of ragweed for one case of pneumonia.
I.am.dying
So, this isn’t legit medical advice, but my Dad’s an allergist and so I kinda know my stuff about this…
Have you tried Claritin? It’s over the counter.
My FAVORITE stuff that I ADORE is Clarinex, but you have to go to a doctor to get that one.
Also, try Afrin which is also over the counter and really good for nasal congestion.
Ok, I’m done talking about boogers.
Your post made me think of high school when I pulled a bunch of weeds in an office park as a fundraiser so they gave us t-shirts that said, “Weedfest!” And then all the potheads at school were all, “Dude…I love your shirt.” And I didn’t get why they liked it so much. The End.
I feel like I could’ve writted this post verbatim. I finally threw in the towel last week and went to one of those quick care clinic’s in a Walgreens. (like a CVS- if you have those by you). I did this after overdosing myself with Benadryl and Zyrtec, and pouring OTC allegery eye drops in to my eyes and getting no results. Best thing I ever did. They perscribed me a nice cocktail of meds to get me thru the rest of allergy season! (i <3 Flonase!)
And I swear by the Neti Pot. Use it every night, it helps clear things out. Just don't do it too close to bedtime.
Feel better lady!
I’m right there with you! I am clawing my eyes out. If I had time to sleep I would totally put a benadryl on top of my Zrytec. The itchy eyes that are red, swollen, scratchy through, stuffy nose… its all awful… pounding head. aAUGH!
Claritin does nothing for me. Zrytec does most of the time. But I must not forget it or the next day is so BAD
LOL! This made me laugh, but I do hope you feel better. Allergies suck!
what the hell is ragweed?????
I have the worst allergies from April through November it seems… basically any time there isn’t frost or snow on the ground. I put in Zaditor eye drops every night to prevent the morning “hangover” and then take a few Benadryl when I wake up. The Zaditor really works for me and I even wear contacts; it also lasts for 12 hours so it gets me into work before it wears off. Wish you the best… so not fun!
I am SO THERE with you. It sucks. Especially the sinus drainage that dries in the back of my throat at night that starts my morning sickness out first thing in the morning when I get vertical.
I feel your pain. Ragweed has been my Autumn enemy for many years. My meds of choice are Loratadine (Claratin generic) and Opcon-A (“A” for Allergy) eyedrops. Not to sound really lame but staying indoors with the windows closed helps too. Last, pray for the colder weather to come and freeze/kill the dang ragweed.
