Nanny McAuntie.

elise1 Nanny McAuntie. This girl is beautiful.  & bright.  & quirky.  & funny.  She’s fiercely loyal.  She doesn’t sunburn easily.  She loves TOMS shoes & photography.

I could tell you a lot about my sister.

I could even tell you things that would make her crawl in a hole, because that’s what sisters do.  We blackmail each other.

But the most important thing about her?

She’s good for my son.

& with a little wiggle room from all of us & a lot of discussion, we have hired her as our nanny until next summer.  I could not be more at peace with this decision, & more thankful to my sister for…well, needing a job.  & wanting Harrison in her life.

p.s.  she totally has the chin, too.
p.p.s.  it’s going to be a little weird to breakup with daycare after only three days, but I promise, it’s me, not you.

WOAH…that is one sweet aunt! So didn’t like the daycare? Also, how often are you having your sister work…full time? I’m just wondering in case I start not liking our daycare! For now, I’m in love with them, but it takes just ONE time for them to piss me off!! haha

    • heirtoblair says:

Christina, we actually were learning to like the daycare! Oddly enough :)

But her schedule changed to where she could keep staying with him (since she’s been keeping him since January) & it just worked out so much better. She’ll be full-time, but she will have off two afternoons to go to class.

  8. Sarah says:

Yea! Having family watch your precious loved ones is such a blessing. We have my MIL watch our son 2 days a week and it is so awesome. He’s is daycare 2 days also, but we love our day care lady too! Best of both worlds :)

  23. Mama Bird says:

Oooooh luuuuuccccckkkkyyyy! —–> Uber jealous over here (as I pick up my daughter from our child care lady). My sis should learn a lesson or two from your sis. :)

  24. Jenn says:

I love it when family is able to take care of the baby. My mom watches my DD every day and it is the best.

  25. Lauren says:

So awesome! Hiring a nanny on the days I work was the best choice we ever made! Hiring a nanny who is family would have been the only thing better:)

  28. amersons says:

{happy} tears in my eyes for you as i read this post. what awesome news!!!

  29. EB says:

Amazing! I want to steal your sister away! (Is she willing to commute to Colorado daily & work with twins?) I have a brother who refuses to be our “manny” despite numerous attempts at bribery.

  30. Becky says:

That’s awesome! We broke up with daycare after 5 days, so I understand! I wish we had family close by for a lot of reasons, but this is a big one.

  31. jess says:

That is so awesome! Another awesome thing…I’m pretty sure your sister is in Pittsburgh in that picture…haha. I live in Pittsburgh..I hope she had a good time while she was here :) ..haha

  32. PartyMom says:

So glad to hear you’ve figured out a situation that makes you really happy. You shouldn’t have to ‘learn to like’ your child care situation!

  33. bree says:

I am a Aunty Nanny and I love it!!!!

  37. tiffany says:

While our nanny isn’t family, she has become a sister to me. I’m an only child AND consider myself co-parenting with her. She spends 45 + hours a week with the babe due to my commute. Thank God for the times when it all comes together…

  38. Renee says:

Awesome news!! I am so happy for you guys!! I will be an Auntie Nanny once my sister has her kids in a couple of years!! Somedays I wonder if I will ever get back to work myself.

  39. Sara says:

  48. Shahny says:

    Thats awesome!!

  49. Awesome! I’m so glad you were able to swing it and I hope it makes you feel much better about being a working momma!

  50. The Mommy says:

Not everyone is lucky enough to have a sister that they can trust enough to let them nanny (and “auntie”) their child/ren. I wouldn’t even let my sister fish-sit while we were on vacation (and they’re 28 cent goldfish from Wal-mart)!

  51. Chrisa says:

Good for you! Harrison will really benefit from the one-on-one time and thank god it will be with a family member, so that bond will last forever. Glad you decided to go that way..

  52. Aitch says:

Hooray for Auntie’s who make for awesome nannies!

  53. notelizabeth says:

that’s so great! i know you liked her watching him before. and i’m sure it was a perfectly lovely daycare (otherwise you wouldn’t have chosen it, if only for 3 days), but it’s not family.

    yay! :)

  54. Yay for sweet sissys!!!!

  55. Fiona says:

I’m totally laughing because we broke up with daycare after 2 days. YAY for Auntie Nanny!! You are so lucky!

  56. I would totally prefer family watching my daughter, what a relief for you and Nate. So happy for you!

  57. That’s awesome!

  58. YAY! happy for you, your boy, and your sis! that’s amazing, lady. :D xoxo!

  59. Becca says:

That’s fantastic! I know I could never leave Jax in daycare, so it’s wonderful that your sister is going to watch him!!!

  60. Jen says:

Just stumbled on your blog and wanted to say that I love it! It’s very refreshing to read someone write with such honesty. I will definitely be a follower!
