Swingers.

Today was gorgeous.  & I’m not just talking about this fine piece of man-meat:

RAWR.

The weather was incredible, the house was clean, & we started the day with pancakes:

pancakes Swingers.

I made the mistake of not having pancake mix in the pantry for the boys, so we went out as a family for a treat.  Harrison adored his pancakes, but was not a huge fan of grits.  Meaning they ended up getting spit out onto his overalls.  He’ll learn.  The weather was so gorgeous that there was no way we could go home to play inside – so we headed to one of the local parks.

& then my camera died.  GO FIGURE.

(yes, that’s a rare shot of me in glasses)

Pushing Harrison on the swing?  One of my favorite Momma Moments so far.  Watching his face light up absolutely made my heart explode with happiness.  & then tell Nate that we MUST, as in like YESTERDAY, buy him a swing for our house.  Because he loved it so.  Every time he swung towards me, he let out a peal of laughter, reaching up to the sky with his big eyes wide as saucers.

Does my life seem perfect right now?  Because to me, it feels better than I could have ever imagined.

Minus the fact that I can’t seem to keep my camera charged for the best moments.

"I made the mistake of not having pancake mix in the pantry for the boys, so we went out as a family for a treat." — Doesn't sound like a mistake at all! Sounds like reality and a reminder that it's nice not to be "perfect" all the time! :) Glad you had such a great start to the long weekend!

Gahhhh, I can’t believe you don’t have a swing! It’s totally the best thing ever!!!! Even when I bring B by the slider door & he catches a glimpse of it, he starts squirming and giggling like CRAZY, he’s obsessed. The kids love the swing.

  20. Robin says:

Blair, love Harrison’s shoes! Where are they from?

  21. R's Mom says:

    Blair –

I hope I’m not stirring up bad memories with this post, but I just have to comment. My heart is exploding with happiness for you with this post. Because back in one of your darker moments, in one of your posts that generated a lot of comments and controversy, I feel like the feeling you are capturing here today is what I was trying to convey to you in my comments about what motherhood is like (does that sentence even make sense). I was trying to tell you that even when things aren’t “perfect,” they still can feel perfect. That even when your son gets himself messy with grits, and part of your brain is thinking about the laundry that will need to be done, the other part of you is just loving the personality that is your son. That little moments, like watching your baby on the swing, or explore a new toy, can be wonderful. I was so sad that you weren’t feeling this back then, and even though I don’t “know” you, I am so, so glad that you are enjoying motherhood now.
