I’m seriously SO EXCITED because today, we’re leaving for our first vacation as a family. Beach, sunshine, watching boats on the waterway, & a local donut shop, even if for just 48 hours. I cannot WAIT to look out over the ocean, let Harrison dip his feet for the first time, & let the Vitamin D soak into my pores.
Also? I never realized how much STUFF a kid needs until you try to move it. Goodbye days where Nate & I tossed one duffel bag in the back for a weekend. Hello, pack n’ play, stroller, toys, burp cloths, bottles, food, & trusty sound machine without which Harrison might NEVER go to sleep. Pajamas – check. But what if he pukes on those? Extra pajamas – check. Diapers – check. Swim diapers – check. Pack n’ play sheet – check. But what if he pukes on that? Extra sheet – check.
& before I know it, Harrison’s bag is bigger than mine.
& God bless my husband, but he just didn’t seem to understand that the last thing I wanted was to be racing around at 6:45am on a Friday morning in work clothes with a shrieking baby & no coffee.
So, HELLO, we pack the car on Thursday night. Right?
Wrong. ::pushes sweaty bangs out of face:: Needless to say, I look like hell today thanks to loading the stroller in 1,000% humidity & 83 degrees at 7am. & I would throw a tantrum about it because, you know, I have the maturity of a 5-year-old. Except I’M GOING TO THE BEACH with my boys & I will gladly take feeling like a pack mule this morning as payment.

Miss Lucy’s Monograms was sweet enough to send me a travel garment bag, monogrammed with my initials – the Southern gal in me SWOONED with happiness. The quilting is gorgeous, the monogramming & font are perfect, & it holds a few dresses & tops very nicely. Also, a metal chain & hook to hang clothes on, all reinforced & ready to be abused in travel (as we all know that happens).
It’s so wonderfully girly, currently holding a sundress for our beach vacation, & I cannot WAIT to strut through the airport with it in a month when I head up to NYC for Blogher. & one of you will win one!
