The big 2-7.
& that’s me to the left, fresh out of The Momma’s oven on June 2, 1983.
I have lived over a quarter of a century. I’m closer to 30 than I am to college & almost 10 years out from high school. But instead of depressing me, I find it rather exciting! I cannot wait to live out at least another 73 years.
I have never been a huge birthday celebrator because I’ve never wanted to be disappointed. Thankfully, my husband ALWAYS comes through on my birthday (this year I got a Keurig coffee maker & new Rainbow flips!) & my brothers are getting increasingly better at calling. The Momma faithfully calls every birthday morning to sing to me, even though she knows she’ll see me later that day. She always asks what flavor of cake I want & I’m finally realizing that my birthday probably means more to her than it does to me. Also, let’s all please give a round of applause to The Momma for pushing me out into this world with minimal conehead & only moderate fetal distress. Nice work, Momma!
So…instead of going all Eeyore on everyone this year & setting the bar low, I decided to treat everyone else with a massive, fun giveaway day celebrating all the things that I love in my life. How Oprah is that?

Happy Birthday lady! I have been following your blog since the Harpie days. I am 28 and my mother still calls every birthday to sing to me and asks me what flavor of cake I want too.
