There are a lot of things wrong with this world. I know it. Medicare is a clusterfark, people still eat McDonald’s, & Target is always out of the nail polish color that I want.
But y’all?
There is a post on YouTube with little girls gyrating to “Single Ladies.” I almost posted it on my blog. & then realized I wanted no part in exposing these girls, & even know it’s hypocritical to even DISCUSS it because it will garner exposure. But I’m so grossed out that I cannot NOT discuss it.
We live in a country that is so “sexually liberated” that allows this. We live in a society that watched with rapture as Britney Spears gyrated across the screen at 15 in an altered Catholic school uniform. (Nate still remembers the day that he first saw Britney).
But mention that you’re going to bang the brains out of your husband once a day for his satisfaction, & our purist background comes out to say that it’s servitude. Or necessary. Because, ewwww….that much sex?
We’re okay with six-year-olds grabbing their…ummm….future breasts & humping the air on YouTube, but a 19-year-old can be on the sex offender registry for having relations with his 15-year-old girlfriend? I’ve seen 13-year-old girls hold bras up to themselves in Victoria’s Secret while brazenly staring down my husband. HE LEFT THE STORE because he was too uncomfortable. When he should have been helping his WIFE pick out lingerie for their anniversary, he had to leave because he was afraid of being labled a “pervert” by pre-pubescent, overly-exposed girls.
Oh, & parent or whoever that posted that YouTube? You suck. EW. Not only did you allow your child to dress like a whore in fishnets & panties that I would only wear in boudior pictures, but then you posted it for the entire world to watch YOUR LITTLE GIRL bend over & shake her ass at a camera. You repulse me.
Put clothes on your children. Let them dance ballet & pretend to be Snow White until they are 10. Let them play Maple Town & not imagine what happens after Barbie walks down the aisle to Ken. They have another 60 years to be ravished & oggled. So let them be babies for the first few years.
I don’t care if I get hate mail on this.

Well put. I happen to agree, but either way it's your blog and you should stand your ground with your beliefs!
Agreed!
The only hate mail will be by 50 year old men with issues claiming to be 20-something women with daughters.
I think you were SPOT ON!
I think you should file this under POPULAR opinions. I really hope that those parents are in the minority.
I took dance for years and years and years. We wore leotards and put on makeup, but we danced to songs like broadway babies, in tap shoes.
We would put on dance numbers and fashion shows to the Grease soundtrack in the house and my mom would videotape it.
I saw that video and was appalled. My daughter will dance, she will be allowed to play with my high heels and I will teach her how to put blush on for fun whenever she wants. But she will NEVER be allowed to do something like that.
I couldn't be more on board with what you are saying. I just got Lila Kate a book called Tea Parties and White Gloves: A guide to ettiquette. It's is TOO cute.
My daughter will grow up a child of God who respects her body and herself.
As the mother of a daughter, and well, an adult who thinks that kids should be kids and playing the the sandbox until they're 12, I couldn't agree with you any more. I saw that video and couldn't watch the whole thing because it make my stomach flip and my skin crawl.
As the mother of a six month old daughter I could not agree more. My husband and I talk about this all the time. He teaches elementary school and sees girls as young as first grade wearing "Juicy" clothes. The put a ring on it thing is so disturbing to me. I see the commercials for the Chipmunks movie where they are singing that song and wonder what the hell is wrong with people.
Couldn't be more with you on this one. Kids are forced to grow up WAY too early now. I, for one, plan on making sure my kids play with cabbage patch kids instead of bratz.
OMG I totally agree! I saw that video yesterday and I wanted to cry for those girls. They are SO young (way, way too young to dress like that and dance like that). But what really got me was the way people were screaming for them and egging them on. How to EFF did they find an entire crowd of people who thought it was cool to see little girls sexualizing themselves that way?
And you know, I totally blame the parents too. When I saw that video, all I could picture was the scene in Mean Girls when Regina George was dressed like a hoe bag bunny for Halloween and her mom was going gaga over how fantastic she looked while her dad fought back tears. I totally picture that situation happening with these little girls: their stage moms were oohing and aahing over how sweet and cute they looked and telling them to add a little more lipstick and push out their flat little chests and shake it real good on the stage. I wish I could have a one-on-one with some of these parents because I'd love to hear what the hell they are thinking.
I'd hate to read any of the hate mail you get for this. Who could possibly disagree with this. That video is absolutely disgusting. This is totally a popular opinion, and those who disagree need to check themselves.
I completely agree. I get nauseated if I see clips from those "toddlers and tiaras" type shows – have we learned nothing about the dangers of trying to make our little kids into mini adults?
My child is a CHILD. No, I cannot prevent her from growing up, and I will not deny that she is growing as she gets older, but I see no need to hasten the process. Nor to publicize it.
Some parents just need a reality check smack.
Hell, I was apalled when clothed 13 year olds performed the dance at a hip hop show I attended. Because I think 13 year olds should have loftier goals than just getting some guy to put a ring on it.
Amen sister! I could not agree with you more! I won't even let my 9 month old wear a bikini this summer because of my strong opinions on little girls dressing like adults (I know, I know, no everyone agrees with it. But she's mine so I do what I want.)
I refuse to watch said video – even though I saw links on YouTube. I am certain it is just as disgraceul as I imagine.
Good for you for saying something.
Kind of ironic I am talking about S.E.X today. HAHA.
You remember Maple Town? I thought I was the only one, loved that show and I had the little characters too. Like many of the previous gals I couldn't finish watching the video and as a mother of a daughter she will not be participating in dance lessons that require her to shake her booty in fishnets and booty humping shorts. It's repulsive and some nasty old pedophile is now getting his jollies off on some innocent girls whose parents are stupid and careless. I'll gladly screen your hate mail for you.
Amen. When I found out I was having a girl, my first thoughts were of the teenage (and pre-teen) years and how to keep her innocent as long as possible. I know I cannot stop her from growing up, but I pray that I am able to guide her down the right path. It scares the hell out of me already and she is only 7 months old.
YES. To all of this. I find it really sad to see how adult many of today's children act. Let them be little!
I'm also surprised how many young kids know all the words to Lady Gaga. Crazy.
I saw this video yesterday and was appalled. I totally agree with you on this one Blair. When I was growing up I took a few dance classes and one was Hip-Hop and it was more Stephanie Tanner-ish. Nothing like those little girls! It's sad to see where their self-confidence is coming from.
Agreed, and can you imagine what it will be like 12 years from now when our babies are about to become teenagers? I'm scared to death of how the media and others will influence my daughter but pray that my influence will be greater.
thank FREAKIN GOD…i have a little boy…Dear Lord, if you are listening, please bless me with a whole pack of boys that I can turn into sweet, respectable southern gentleman so I NEVER had to deal with this!! K thanks!!
If this is an "Unpopular Opinion," stop the ride, I wanna get off.
i can't imagine what wacko would send you
hate mail on this one
i saw the video.
i have 2 daughters.
also, i was in awe of the little girls' talent
they were AMAZING dancers
so it is sad that they are being exploited the way they are.
their dance teacher should be ashamed
as well as the parents that let them participate
my girls are gonna be playing soccer after that.
I saw this last night and wanted to puke.
I couldn't agree with you more! My husband looks at noob.us daily, its like youtube but more people taping pranks & stupid shit that they do. He came across this video this weekend and to say the least…it made him physically sick.
Granted we don't have a daughter but there is no way we would encourage such vulgar dancing by a young girl. Shit I'm 26 and I only dance like that for my husband not out in public in front of other people. We as a society have made it so that children can't be children.
Its completely inappropriate and replusive that someone would 1. let their daughter participate 2. tape it 3. put it on youtube.
I agree with a previous comment that if you get hate mail you should post it here w/ their email address and all.
I couldn't believe when I saw this video, it popped out of nowhere yesterday and has been on every site. For their age, I think they are absolutely AMAZING dancers, but the choreography and their outfits are way inappropriate.
And yet some people aren't "allowed" to be parents b/c adoption is so hard and then there are real "winners" out there that are pimping their children… sad!
I can't believe that any parent would let their little girls participate in that. What is this wrong with this world? I wouldn't even watch the entire video. I have a 2-year-old son and it saddens me to know that this is what he is going to grow up with. It wasn't that long ago that I was a child, but even I can say the world is a very different place than when I was a kid. It makes me very sad.
I found this video this morning and it made me sick. Talented dancers, yes but the adults should be ashamed of themselves.
A to the MEN sister.
I agree with you! It's disgusting! I don't know how any parent in their right mind could let their babies dance like this and dress like this. It's appalling. I hope that they wake up and see that it's not cute and it's disgusting. Let kids be kids. You are only little once!!!!
That is horrible. The worst part is that this wasn't an "OMG they're dancing in the living room, let's switch on the camera," this is at a dance competition. These little girls practiced this routine for months (they are very talented though, I must say), someone choreographed this for them and picked out their costumes. This was all a conscious decision. I'll be honest and say that many parents (at least around here) are not allowed at their children's dance rehearsals unless it is like a show and tell night, but I guarantee they at least saw the costumes and their little girls practicing ahead of time, so they should have had an idea. But it worries me more that this was PLANNED. And not once in the months it took to prepare did someone catch on and say, "this is so not appropriat." Shame on them.
AMEN!!! Lily will NOT be going out of the house looking like a hooch. It is gross that 13 year girls walk around dressing like college barhoppers. And we wonder why men need to ask for ID prior to doing the horizontal tango! We objectify our teenagers to the point that they think they are grown.
I couldn't possibly agree more emphatically with you. Today's society has gone downhill so fast, it's insane. I can't believe parents exploit their children that way and allow them to behave in such a manner. I swear, if I didn't have to work, I would homeschool Knox in a skinny minute to keep him a kid for as long as possible. It's so sad that children are being forced to grow up as fast as they are. Call it sheltering if you will, it is. I think kids should be sheltered from that crap until they're old enough and mature enough to handle it. Say 35 or so?
And thank God Knox is a boy. Seriously.
Am I allowed to both be horrified by that video AND a little squicked out by someone talking about "banging their husband's brains out for his satisfaction"? Because I kind of am. Or was that in reference to the whole Anonymous Old Ladies Give Us Condescending Advice guest post?
Wow. Just…wow. Had to watch the video before I could comment, and it's baffling to me that anyone would find that appropriate for girls that age. Like the previous poster said, what adult would choreograph that routine and select those costumes for such little girls?! And how was that okay with the girls' parents?! I have a 21-month old daughter and I can assure you, pigs will literally fly before she will ever be allowed to participate in something like that.
Well you can no longer view the youtube video with its original music. Apparently Beyonce got wind of the video and wanted no part in promoting something like that. (I always knew I loved her!). It is completely disgusting and wrong to see little girls dancing like that.
Oh my heck, I am so glad to read that most people agree with you! I completely do! I have two little girls and I have issues with the way people dress thier kids and even some of the dance classes. My Ex's neice was a cheerleader at like 8 and her mom used to hoot and hollar when they did things like gyrate and do moves that I thought were somewhat sexual. The fact that the mothers cheered them on really bothered me. Those little girls weren't completely aware what they were doing was something sexual, they were just doing as they were told. But those mothers, and those dance leaders knew! Also I hate to see little kids in tank tops or bikinis. I battle this one alot becaase my kids are constantly being given tank tops as presants (both their birthdays are in the spring). I try to explain how wonderful and sacred our bodies are and then help them decide how to alter the outfit, or to return it for something more important. Its too bad the little girls in the youtube video don't have someone to help them realize how special they are, and how wrong the video is. And I think those parents need a good smack upside the head for allowing the dance, video taping it and posting it!
LOL at Maple Town. I totally remember that! And, yes, it is disgusting how many people are okay with the sexualization of kids. I'm on the conservative side, but still, how is anyone okay with 12-year-olds wearing skimpy clothing? I agree that it puts many men in crappy situations too, like your DH at VS. Ugh.
Link?
Totally agree. I saw this last night and its sick.
on another note: I have a video of my sister and I getting a Maple Town dollhouse with the little figurines for christmas! Too funny
Absolutely. This is right up there with thongs for little kids. Ummmm…. WHY!? What purpose is this possibly serving?
One kind of funny part if your husband remembering the day he first saw Britney. My husband does too. In fact we were just discussing that the other day.
I saw this last night too. It made me cuddle my little girl tighter and wish we lived in a different world. That was too sick and sad. Sad that girls are encouraged to be grown women (or strippers) from birth on – baby bikinis?! (don't get me started there) and sad that boys (little, little boys) are conditioned to find that sexy and to be demeaning from the first time they step on a school playground (or before). I am glad you are brining attention to this without linking it. It is so, so sad.
OMG Maple Town! Yesssssss!! Thanks for the memory.
Excuse my language, but A-f***ing-men. That is all.
I whole-heartedly agree! My little sweet pea will turn 2 in June and I've already had to decide that pants with sexual words on the butt aren't appropriate for a 1-year old. Ugh. Here's to praying that I can teach my little girl what's appropriate, even when she sees other people behaving differently.
I couldn't agree with you more! This whole Toddlers & Tiaras show as well – I mean, these 4 year olds look like a 22 year old shrunk down! That is NOT how they should look – they should have messy hair, ice cream stains on their t-shirt and grass stains on their knees!
I don't understand how parents can think this is OK for them, let alone encourage and reward.
I totally agree. I couldn't imagine what kind of IDIOT would defend such behavior. There is simply NO excuse to turn your toddler into a sexual creature. The lack of reverence that a lot of parents show for their child's innocence is appaling, really. What happened to teaching girls to be ladies (strong, intelligent, self-aware, classy women) and boys to be gentlemen (strong, responsible, respectful men)? ugh. So much to say, so little impact it will make on those who don't have the sense God gave a goose when it comes to child rearing.
Thank you for posting this! I was having the same discussion with my mother-in-law yesterday. Kids grow up SO fast the way it is….why do some parents and society make them grow up even faster! Let them be young as long as you can. I am a first time mom and I now understand why my mom wouldn't let me shave my legs and wear makeup when I begged her to when I was 11 years old!
unfortunately, this video has gone viral. i have seen it posted several places but have had no dsire to click and watch.
i live in so cal and i'm not sure how it is everywhere else, but ALL little girls in "dance" classes are over-sexed. people make fun of the toddlers and tiaras kids but aroudn these parts, putting your daughter in dance class mught as well be preparing her for a future life working the poll. the outfits are non-existent and the makeup is nothing short of whorish. i always wanted my (future) daughter to do dance but it ain't gonna happen if we still live here. unfortunately, that video is the NORM 'round my parts, not the exception.
I haven't seen the video but I totally agree with you!
::standing ovation::
And as for the hate mail? It repulses me.
Well said! I saw the video earlier today, and I felt dirty and repulsed by the whole thing. As a parent, I would never allow my child to dress or dance like that!
Whatever happened to innocence?
Ugh. My family does the same thing. They totally think its appropriate to have little girls dance like this. They teach them to do it. They also teach young kids to curse. My cousin's 3 year old knows how to use certain curse words appropriately and they all laugh about it.
Disgusting indeed.
Completely agree. I saw that video this morning and OMG! What were those parent's thinking? Every pedophile in America is watching that and thanking those parents right now. My daughter is 5 and I would rather cut off my own arm than allow her to dress and/or dance like that. She takes ballet and tap and their dance outfits are NOTHING like that or she wouldn't be participating. They don't wear make up or tease their hair back into the 80's. YUCK!
And this is why I was so afraid to have a daughter. And then I was blessed with one. Going past the video – walking around the mall scares me. My daughter will not be hitting the mall by herself until she's 18. And definitely won't be dressing in shorts that practically show her hoo-ha. Or with shorts that say "cheer" across the butt at age 8. Is that necessary? Heck no! All I can do is hope that I raise my daughter well and she will agree with me…
Haven't seen the video, and I don't want to. Your description alone completely disgusts me. How can ADULT think it is okay to post a video like this PUBLICLY of a CHILD?? They should be arrested…seriously.
I'm so with you. The sexualization of young girls is so disturbing, and, to me, the height of sexism–women have been so objectified in our society that even a 5-year-old girl is seen as a sexual object and taught to act that way. Bratz dolls horrify me. Even the disney fairies are a bit too sexualized for my taste. I don't want my little girl thinking that what matters about her is how well she can seduce men. Ugh.
My niece once sang the lines from that song, "do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips."
My husband and I almost fell over. Everyone else thought it was cute. We did not and we were in the minority.
She was five. FIVE!
The only thing that can be applauded about that video is the amazing talent those little girls have as dancers. The outfits and many of the moves are horrifying on those little girls. The dance instructor should be ashamed of herself for thinking that was an age appropriate performance for 7 + year olds. The parents deserve a major side eye and a kick in the ass for keeping said daughters in that class and allowing them go to on stage looking like that and performing like that.
100% agree with you, Blair.
I couldn't agree with you more. It makes me sick to see preteen girls look like street walkers. What is wrong with parents nowadays?
DH and I have had talks about this. I'm sorry, but our daughter (who's 5 months old) will not be sporting a pair of sweat pants from Vicky's Secret with "Pink" across the butt, EVER.
I completely blame the parents. Irresponsible people showboating their kids in an extremely inappropriate manner. Makes. Me. Vomit.
You must have been in my head last night because I posted on this same thing today!!
It's disturbing.
Amen, amen, amen!
for realz. I saw that video yesterday and made my husband watch the horrificalness of it. Shame on those moms.
I totally agree. It's right up there with sweatpants with "Juicy" written across the but and sexy thongs being sold at Ambercrombie & Fitch Kids…
I would like to see someone try and defend that video. I would be shocked if you received any hate mail over that post and shame on the person who does try to publicly bash you for saying what 99.999999% of the population feels.
My daughter is 10 months old and will be wearing one piece bathing suits until she can afford to buy her own. My BFF was putting her infant daughter in skimpy bikinis because they were "so adorable" and "cute", but guess what? She is 6 now and leaves the house with no underwear on and I have watched her countless times flash the boys….in church. Just sayin'. (FYI, this is a true story….I am flabbergasted on a weekly basis by her lewdness at the tender age of 6)
This is the first time I've heard about this and I'm appalled ! That is just SICK and WRONG! I agree, Shame on those parents.
AGREED.
Totally agree with you.
60 yrs of being ravished and ogled? maybe only by my hubby (and even then i'm not so sure!). these days the girls portrayed as sexy look like they're 12 to me. i always hoped it was just a sign of me getting older. apparently not.
and totally ditto on the VS experience. i feel like a freaking spinster going in there!
agreed. If you get hate mail, then EW. I can't believe anyone would disagree with you on this one!
Seriously, who would send you hatemail on this? What could they possibly say!
I agree with everything you said. It's hard, you're right, because to discuss it will make people watch it, but to not discuss it would be like telling the world "it's okay that those 6-8 year olds are doing that." But it's not okay.
I was in dance classes for 12 years. I cannot remember a single dance where we wore something like that, to that sort of music, and did moves like those. What kind of instructor thought this was okay!? Where were the parents? Did they never see their kid rehearse? Because I would be horrified if a mother knew her sweet little girl was dancing like that, and let her.
I SO agree with you. I hate that our society does not let kids be KIDS. Mine will be. And I don't care if that makes him a nerd or whatnot, but childhood is too short to spend it trying to grow up.
holy hell! i just watched that video and couldnt agree with you more! im 21 and when I was that age there were never girls dancing like that! I can't believe that any parent would actually allow their little girls do do that. those outfits for one were so inappropriate for a girl that age and those dance moves? seriously?! theyre not professional dancers! theyre children! that is just unbelievable. those girls are very good dancers for their age but if theyre choreographer wants to show how good they are then do something age appropriate!!
1st question, do you actually read all these comments?
I didn't look at the video you mentioned, but I this is the worst I've ever seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaArRv8OqbM&fe…
As the mother of a daughter I find it beyond horrifying.
Those girls are talented dancers. What's the most shameful about this spectacle IMO us that their parents and teachers have cheerfully funneled the energies and talents of small children into sexually explicit gyrations for no other reason than to garner praise and positive reactions from other ADULTS.
I took dance as a child for many years, and was on my high school dance squad. I cherish those memories and learned a lot about competition and myself through dance. I hope that some day my daughter will also take classes if she wants to, but if we can't find a studio that considers that "style" as appalling as I do, I guess we'll have to try fly fishing lessons instead.
Those wader thingies, they go up like way high… right?
I totally agree. What happened to black leotards and pink ballet shoes and dancing to Tchikovsky and thinking it was cool that you got to dance to a song from the Nutcracker.
my kid is going to be a dancing nun. you know, like sister act style.
non of this booty popping nonsense.
Preach it, sister. Very well written rant.
Agreed. 100% agreed.
Holy Moley! This is ridiculous! I wouldn't dance like that as a grown woman in front of anyone else but my husband!!
Have you tried lately (and I'm guessin you haven't because you have a son) to buy little girls' clothing that DOESN'T look slutty? There must be a market for it, but holy crap there's a lot of stuff that I think is too risque for a college co-ed, let alone my 3-year-old daughter!!
I won't watch the video, but I can imagine. I am still on the fence as to whether or not I should sign my daughter up to take dance. If I go with ballet, would that be OK? I hope so. (Incidentally, i'm about as graceful as, oh, I dunno a boar? An elephant? Needless to say, I never took dance). Maybe she should play t-ball…
I danced with a horrid green tutu to Parakeets in Tap Shoes. And when I have a daughter- so will she!
amen, sister. aaaaamen.
Awesome!
Last night, while tweeting, I saw several people tweet links to this video and voice their disgust. I had a hard time keeping my comments down to the allotted 140 characters, and was forced to keep it simple – when what I REALLY wanted to do was track down the parents, costumers, choreographer, and each and every person in that audience that was screaming/whistling/clapping at these babies acting like strippers.
I wanted to find all of these people, sit them down, and have a “come to Jesus” talk. These people are head cases! Way to turn your CHILDREN into the future strippers of America well before they’re old enough to understand and make the properly informed decision to dance seductively and all that entails. At least the adult women that do it get paid. (sorry… bad joke)
Also, can you IMAGINE what kind of perverts are out there doing Lord only knows what to the video of these children? Kiddie Diddlers rejoice at the posting of this crap! Boo! Boo! Boo at you and your bad judgment people! Shame on you!
Thank you Blair. Thank you for giving me a place to express my disgust. I didn’t even consider writing a post about this, and it’s probably best that I didn’t. It was left to the pro – who has the lady like ability to hand out a verbal beating with grace and dignity! Again… Thank you.
I completely agree. I also get incredibly angry when I see cute little girls wearing those sweat pants that say horrific things like “juicy” or “hot” or pretty much anything across the butt. Why would a parent put their child in that!?
If anyone sends you hate mail for this, I say you post it here, complete with their email addresses, so that we can all go and have them drawn and quartered. ANYONE who promotes that sort of behavior from BABIES makes me sick, and yes, those girls are babies. They should be playing tea party and jumping rope.
I teach high school and I see way, WAY too many beautiful girls who think they have to act older than they are and reveal way too much because society tells them that skin is sexy. It breaks my heart.
As the mom of a three year old girl I CAN’T AGREE MORE!! This is what little girls should be dancing.
http://thelungos.blogspot.com/2010/04/thankful-on-thursday.html
I couldn’t agree more! When my son was born and I started this thing called a blog, I asked my husband what was off limits to post. He and I both agreed no naked photos . . . ever. Nothing that would embarrass my son as he grew up and got older. Isn’t that you are suppose to do as a parent? Protect your children and their privacy? What is wrong with these people?!
Hells to the YEAH that video was a hot mess of wrong. What kills me is what good dancers those girls are. Like, really good. How cute would they have been dancing to “Give My Regards to Broadway” in vintage dresses and doing a kick line? There’s nothing right about letting girls do that. Nothing at all. It leads t the kind of uncertainty about sexuality that causes girls to take off their clothes for a boy long before they’re ready or leads boys to think that “No” means “Go Right Ahead”. We do a disservice to our young girls when we let this happen to them.
No hate mail from me. I completely agree with you. Not only do I never want my potential daughter to dress like that or gyrate like that, I don’t want my son looking at stuff like that. I will protect my child’s innocence for as long as I can. There are ways for little girls to dance and dress that are tasteful and beautiful and will also display their talent without displaying their (lack of) womanly features. What father would allow his daughter to make such a spectacle of herself? What mother would? I’m sorry, but I judge parents who do that to their kids. Children are too sexualized so young nowadays. That video made me almost physically ill.
GAH!! As a mother to 2 girls, GAHHHH!!! I have friends who tease me because me because I'm so protective of my girls, but after this I think they'll shut the hell up!! As for hate mail? Really? On what grounds??
Hooray for Maple Town!
AMEN!!! I wish more people would stand up to this sort of stuff! Keep on preaching on your soap box. I will support you! : )
I haven't seen the video in question, but I was in Sephora a few weeks ago and "Single Ladies" came on in the store. A little girl, maybe 7 or 8 years old, started gyrating all over and squealing "The Chipmunks!!". I'm a firm believer in pre-screening the shows and movies I allow my DD to see, and that just cemented it. There's way too much sex in some of those movies and the child is just too naive (rightfully so!) to grasp that some of the things in the movies are sexual.
I saw the visoe last night and was disgusted!! Way to go mom who posted it online…you just made thousands of pedophiles VERY happy!
I completely agree….& I’m not watching that filth.
If anyone sends you hate mail on this then they are a real flipping jackass.
I didn't watch the video but I have a picture in my head that I would prefer not to come to fruition.
What about that show Toddlers & Tiaras. Yikes.
I am SO with you! I don't know what is wrong with the world. I also don't know what is worse – the acceptance of allowing a 6 year old girl to HAVE a sexuality in the first place (which is just disgusting…) or the fact that despite having sexual images shoved down their throats from the minute they're born, these kids are still taught the "abstinence is best" model of sex ed instead of ACTUALLY teaching them about their bodies, so they learn to respect them.
Because now we have 14 year old girls in mini skirts with "cleavage" showing, running around going "OMG he kissed me underwater on my period with all our clothes on, but when I ate that 5 lb chocolate sundae yesterday I threw up ZOMG I must be pregnant!"
Allowing our kids to "express" themselves that way is disgusting to begin with. Refusing to educate them on how to handle the repercussions of such is just plain irresponsible.
I'm afraid of the world my daughter will be growing up in…
Sick. I worte a paper on this in college and was APPALLED at the blatant marketing that is behind all of this. Clothing, makeup, THONGS for preteens, it was awful.
I will never understand this. Why we think we're being "cool" moms for letting our daughters slut it up in public. Why Miley Cyrus pole dancing wasn't cut off and switched to a commercial while her parents hauled her ass home. Why we let companies and old, nasty men make the decisions of what our children watch on tv and covet in life.
Thanks for posting about this.
I agree with you 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how can parents watch their daughter do this dance and be okay with it ? Someone had to teach them those moves, that's not something that is just picked up spontaneously! It's so sad that this is what a lot of dancing has come to
As a former high school teacher, you have no idea how much this hits home with me! Agreed!
