“That would be harsher punishment for parole violators, Stan. And, WORLD PEACE!”

I took a personal day today.

& anyone who knows me will tell you THAT I NEEDED IT.  You know those moments where you know if you don’t STOP, that you’re going to be sick?  Not sick in the head.  Because crazy isn’t contagious.  But if you don’t slow down & rest, you’re going to catch some virus that will give you explosive diarrhea & the sniffles all at the same time for a 3-day tour through hell.

Got the pass to hang out alone, although oddly, I feel like Harrison should be here with me.  I miss him.  DID YOU HEAR THAT, DOCTOR?!  I MISS MY BABY!!!!  But I also adore my coffee mug & thankfully, do not miss it today:

coffee That would be harsher punishment for parole violators, Stan. And, WORLD PEACE!

Unfortunately, y’all know I’m one of those freaks that can’t just SHUT UP & WATCH NEW MOON FOR THE ZILLIONTH TIME.  But I promise, I’m taking it slow today.

  • Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you see it), I do have a little bit of work to do from home.
  • Set up my new workstation.  You can see the beginnings of it behind me!
  • Wash bottles.
  • Re-hang frames in dining room.
  • Clean the house.
  • Laundry.  Washing, folding, putting away.
  • Target for groceries & desk stuff.
  • Organize old clothes & smother them into a Goodwill run.
  • Write about the epic tub poop of May 4, 2010.
  • Water plants & weed flower beds (this is low on my priority list)
  • Play with my new camera.
  • Watch New Moon.  Again.  OME. Watched 21 instead.
  • Wash/detail Nate’s car as a surprise treat (he has mine today).
  • Brainstorm new charity partnership.
  • Fix some links on the blog.
  • Cook dinner.
  • Make baby food.
  • Ensure world peace for the next 10 generations.

  1. Yes!!! I need a personal day too! That sounds divine. I have crazy lists of things to get done, and never get around to any of it. I miss productivity.

  2. Alena says:

Or you could just simply SLEEP B!

  3. MomMcQof2 says:

I love you!! Good for you for knowing that you needed a day off…I can honestly say that I am very jealous!! :) Enjoy your day!!

  4. olivea says:

That day sounds insanely too busy. If I were you, I would sleep and watch twilight and new moon in succession and sleep on the couch! And then watch Miss Congeniality, simply because that quote always cracks me up!

    Enjoy your day off!

  5. Kathleen says:

Hooray for personal days! I would take one too if I wasn't a nanny. Although, I do make sure to take my vacation time and paid days off when needed so it kind of counts, right?

I love that you clean and detail Nate's car. That is something I like to surprise my boyfriend with when he lets me use his car. He's so busy and doesn't have time to do it himself so I like to make sure that he knows how much he's loved and appreciated.

ps you still look great with your glasses!

  6. Kim says:

One of my favorite lines! And your list? Uhm, how much energy and how fast do you move, woman? Now I have to get up from my computer and grab that da** laundry that's wet and deal with it! :) ENJOY your personal day, and drool a bit over Jake/Edward for me, please? My kiddies won't let me watch it . . . sigh

  7. Kate says:

OK, that to-do list is really, really ambitious for one day!

Make sure you take a little time to relax!

  8. Jessis62781 says:

Seriously. One of my ALL. TIME. Favorite movies.

And I'm not talking about New Moon either. But if Taylor Lautner would take off his shirt in Miss Congeniality that would be ok too.

  9. Thusa says:

Blair, I love you in glasses. Super cute!

I do have a question though, I noticed several times that you wear your wedding band on the right hand, is there a reason behind it? I know that on days my rings don't fit due to Chinese food the before :hangs head: that I switch them over.

    Just wonderin'

    • heirtoblair says:

thusa, it's just a mirror-image :) When I take a picture on the Mac with the computer's camera, it shows everything flipped! I wear them on my left!

  10. Love your blog! So true to life.

  11. Anne says:

That is NOT taking is slow, lmao. Good luck with all your 'to-do's and enjoy this beautiful weather!

  12. I hope you feel better soon – best of luck getting that "To-Do" list done! :)

  13. Thusa says:

Does it only do that for Mac? I feel that was a major brain fart. I thought that at first but then I said to myself, "well the stuff in the background looks 'ok'?"

    Thusa Fail.

  14. World Peace, huh?

Need to borrow my cape and tiara? I'm focused on teaching symbolism today, so I won't need them until tomorrow.

(glad you're taking a personal day. Oh! And I have an idea. I'm going to email you!)

  15. Mama Pea says:

I see I'm not the only one with ambitious to-do lists…. it's ok if you don't finish everything on the list today (speaking to both you and myself….)

  16. Law Momma says:

OMG. Does this mean no Gchat??? WHAT WILL I DO!?! I'm so proud of you for taking a You Day. They are definitely worth it, even if they are filled with things to do. Because who are we kidding, if we were the type of people who sat around and ate bon bons and watched TV all day, we probably wouldn't be the big balls of stress/PPD/OMGWHATISHAPPENINGTOME that everyone knows us to be! LOVE YOU!

  17. Apparently P says:

This may be a bit random, but I wanted to say that I also like that coffee mug. Simple, with just the right amount shape to make it pretty.

  18. Tamaya says:

Oh I have been dreading the tub poop. It hasn't landed here yet. Just thinking about that gives me cholls.

  19. Tamaya says:

"chills" – oops. I can't even type when I think about having to clean that up and keep both babies out of it.

  20. Tamaya says:

Oh and nice Miss Congeniality reference. And with that I am getting back to work before one of your crazy commenters calls my boss…..

  21. notelizabeth says:

so if there's not world peace, it's b/c you were too busy at target?!?!? what's up w/that?

j/k! enjoy your day. try to be lazy. i know it's hard. :)

  22. Krista says:

How is it that our personal health days to avoid sickness and rest end up busier than if we had worked? I do this. I get a day off because I'm sick or getting sick (which are the only times I take a day off) and because i'm home I feel I must get EVERYTHING done. I can never enjoy just being still. Ever.

  23. Shahny says:

Enjoy your day off and relax. If you dont get much done, no worries :D

  24. Brenda says:

That is one long list! Good luck. I love those days though, I love crossing stuff off my to-do list! It makes play time with my little one more fun when I don't have that list nagging at the back of my brain

  25. Ashley says:

enjoy your day!!! that is a looooong list :)

  26. Kelsey says:

You seriously make your baby food?!?! I'm impressed and also a little surprised. Did you know that they sell that stuff? :)

  27. Jenny says:

Somedays a Personal day is just all week need. Good for you for taking one! How sweet of you to wash/detail your husbands car as a surprise :)

  28. Amanda says:

You make baby food? Would seriously love to hear about that adventure since I am considering it… hope you have a great mental health day, my mom use to let us skip one or two days a year to hang out with her and unwind a little. Best wishes on the to do list.

  29. Carla says:

Okay, I just want to say you look adorable in you glasses. You so should wear them more often. And coffee sounds delicious right now. :runs off to make coffee:

  30. t.bird says:

i'd love a personal day- but alas. i am addicted to hoarding my time off. hoarding i say!

  31. Tiffany says:

I am taking a personal day on Friday and let's just say I'm a TAD BIT excited! (understatement of the year.) I think we all need a break sometime. Enjoy your day darlin'!

  32. Liz says:

I like to call my personal days mental health days. Your to-do list is longer than the ones I make for an entire weekend!

P.S. Thanks for inspiring me to jump ship from blogger and head over to WordPress.

  33. haley says:

Hey, did you know that it is national mental health week? I think a personal day is fitting. :)

  34. Kate West says:

Good for you! I hope you're feeling better today.

  35. Amanda says:

I hope you get all the things on your list accomplished–if it was me I would goof off on the internet all day, take a nap, do a lot of nothing. But that's just me.

  36. Tricia says:

    How you enjoy your day!

  37. Coco says:

hahahah, that is one of my favorite quotes of any movie, ever!!

  38. Jen T. says:

Pick a winner for the 31 gift certificate :o )

  39. Stacey says:

I'm glad you treated yourself to a personal day! I lol'd @ this because I quipped about working moms taking a sick day in my blog today. List is looking good…only half way to go now! Go on with your bad self. ;)

P.S. I do love coffee but I almost never drink it. But when I do…it's *heaven*!

  40. JJ says:

One of the best gifts – catch up. Feeling for 2 seconds like you're almost ahead of the game. I don't see anything nice for yourself on that list… take a bath, lady! Soak in some bubbles!

  41. Laura says:

Your list seems very long! Try to RELAX! Just looking at your list makes me sleepy!

  42. mrs.g says:

I want hear about the epic tub poop of 2010 :)

  43. Ciara says:

Taking it slow, eh? :) Enjoy your day girl. You deserve it.

  44. ElleJay says:

Sounds like me on my days off. I'm only part time so I get 2 during the week- & don't get HALF the things done on my to do lists… but that's also probably because I have the little guy to watch after/entertain 24/7 as well!

  45. Katie says:

Um did you for real do all that in one day? You are amazing! It would have taken me like 3/4 of the day to clean the house because it's sha-nasty and also due to frequent "breaks" that last 30 minutes to an hour to mess around on the computer and watch crappy daytime tv.

  46. Sara says:

I know the feeling of wanting to cram a billion left-over to-dos into a day off, but seriously, work, housework, cooking, and scrubbing your husband's car does not count as a "you" day! Next time have a manicure and a glass of wine. Preferably at the same time.

  47. Awe. I think we have the same glasses!

Great minds think alike. Or…two blind woman both thought they looked hawt in the same blurry mirror at the Dr.'s office, bought them, then got them home with the right lenses and said, "Wha–? I don't like these anymore!" :)
