Once upon a time, @MomNom, @jennandtonica, @emmie_bee, @heirtoblair, and @ColeEmmett were talking about home decor on Twitter. We thought it would be so great to be able to see each other’s homes! A *bunch* of other tweeps joined in, @Alena29 put together a terrific button, and #twitterhometour (or #twitterhouseparty) was born! Feel free to join us – add a link to your home tour post (pictures, video, or both!) below.

Hey, y’all! Welcome to our home! I’m excited, I’m nervous, & if I had my wits about me, I’d grab the video camera, put on my hostess apron, & invite you in with a pitcher of sweet tea. In my heart, that’s what I am doing, so kick up your heels at your desk & enjoy a peak into our home.
Downstairs
Living Room

Our living room is really fantastic. It’s the heart of our home & pretty much the first thing you see when you enter the door. We’re blessed/cursed with a very open floor plan that flows in a full circle, which means our breakfast table & Harry’s high chair are adjacent to our sofa & coffee table. (umm, if you have any tips about what to put on that black table at the door besides mail, my pocket book, & hand sanitizer, I would greatly accept suggestions!)

Really Strange Things In My Home
- Picket Fences on the living room walls.
- The seller left these. We just didn’t know what to do with them, so here they are, over three years later.
- A massive spoon & fork.
- When we were still really cool, we used to have our friends over for both dinner & drinks. Inevitably, someone would get hammered & try to take the spoon and/or fork off the wall & eat with them.
- No rugs on the floors.
- Our smaller rugs are upstairs on the wood landing, softening the blow of Tuck’s nails so she won’t wake up Harrison. & the big rug is outside in the garage, waiting to be cleaned because it got left out in the rain. Three times. It’s been there for a month because I’m lazy.

Would y’all like a drink before we continue? Gin & tonic, perhaps?
Kitchen

I love cooking when I’m not…you know, having a mental breakdown. My kitchen is small & if there’s one thing I want in my next house, it’s a bar or island. I do not care about granite counter-tops or stainless steal appliances, but I DO care about counter space!
Formal Dining Room
I love my dining room. LOVE. It was on my must-have list for a house & I purchased the furniture with my inheritance from my grandmother (which seemed like the right thing to do since it would house her china).

I’ve hosted fondue night, Mother’s Day, a brunch, Christmas dinner, & a few romantic nights, so this table already holds some amazing memories. I’m thinking of changing it up – blue walls & gold drapes. We’ll see!
- I own china. Three different patterns. This is my casual summer Carribean China. Don’t laugh.
- Proof that I am not perfect, nor is my house. My dog chewed my silk drapes two years ago. She is still alive. & my drapes have not be fixed in two years, despite having company over.
- Yep, that’s my bridal portrait.
- My grandmother’s bamboo china.
- My Christmas china, which I have been collecting since I was 16. Don’t laugh.
- My sweet angel given to me by a very, very sweet friend after I lost Harpie. Notice the little egg basket she carries? I think she is beautiful.
Let’s go upstairs, shall we?

These lovelies were purchased here. Also part of my nesting phase where I felt like EVERYTHING needed to be spruced up & I went on an Etsy craze.

UPSTAIRS
The Loft

This is where most blogging/playing/picture-taking goes down so it should look relatively familiar to you, no? It hosts Harrison’s toys, our workout gear, the computers, our inappropriately large television that we no longer watch, & Nate’s framed first hole-in-one.
The Guest Room
I struggled mightily with this room when we moved in because we simply were not using it. & it was JUST SO FREAKIN’ CUTE between the shaker knobs & cheery yellow walls. I’ve tried a zillion different ideas in here, but I think it finally fits & I adore the personal touches.
- This is a water color of the building where we had our Rehearsal Dinner.
- My beloved Pottery Barn bedding that I splurged on with my beloved birds on it. Also, my first Ebay purchase.
- The fabric framed here is from the first couch Nate & I owned as a married couple.
- Chest of drawers. The entire set is antique & my furniture from high school.
- A few family pictures. Nate walking on the beach, my best friend’s wedding, & my grandparent’s tying the knot back in the 1940′s.
The Guest Bathroom/Harrison’s Bathroom

I know that it’s Harry’s bathroom. It’s where he’s bathed every night, where he’ll be potty-trained, & where he will probably flush a toy or twenty down the commode. Eventually, the pretty stuff will need to go & a step-stool will stand in front of the sink. But for now, it’s also our guest bathroom & I like keeping the baby to a minimum. His duck bath hangs in the shower along with his bath wash & the hooks on the wall (as viewed in the mirror) hold his robe & towels. A basket holds any forgotten necessities for guests – toothbrush, razors, toothpaste, etc.
Harry’s Room

You should remember this from the Great Paint Debacle of 2009. (in case you missed it, it’s where paint peeled off the walls, I briefly considered giving Tuck up for adoption, & then certifiably lost my shit over the crib touching the walls). But here is in useful glory. Not much has changed, other than the size of the diapers in the caddy & the blankets that sit on his dresser, ready to be grabbed at a moments notice. I love his nursery & we do spend a ton of time in here – so worth the time & money we spent, in my opinion.
Where The Magic Happens
(aka the Master Bedroom)

Our furniture was a steal & our first big purchase as an engaged couple. It also takes 3 grown men to lift the solid-oak-&-iron headboard on the bed. The duvet is from Pottery Barn & was my last pre-baby big splurge – you know that moment of panic where you think, “I will never, ever be able to spend $200 on bedding again in my life?!” I had one of those at about 36 weeks. & pressed purchase. & yes, we’ve slept happily together in a queen sized bed for almost four years

We’ll call this segment “things on my dresser.” I think you can tell a lot about someone with the things on their dresser – who they are, where they’ve been, what is important to them. (wow, I sounded like Forrest Gump with shoes there). From top left going clockwise:
- Paint swatches. Nate decided he wants our master bedroom green after 3 years in a brown house. I’m not arguing, but I am putting my foot down for a nice olive rather than lime or mint.
- Yep, that’s what I smell like. J. Simp on a regular day, Euphoria for date night. Nate gave me the Euphoria for a wedding present, so you can tell how much I wear perfume given that it’s been 3 1/2 years.
- My Willow Tree gals. The “Courage” angel has her arms up in victory, given by a sweet friend the night before I had heart surgery in college. & the mother one was given to me when I was pregnant with Harpie.
- Pictures of my other set of boys, aka the Brothers.
- I had a cat named Sweetie – she died on November 18, 2004 of kidney failure at the age of 14. There isn’t a day that passes that I don’t miss her sweet soul. She really did fit her name, & this figurine looks EXACTLY like her.
& sweet other touches, like my wedding garter around Nate’s side of the bed, collages of us, & our wedding invitation, framed to remind us daily of the vows we spoke. Random fact: We have ZERO pictures of Harrison in our room. We just feel like it should be…ours.
The Great Outdoors

ADORE our porch. Adore. Nate & I spend so many evenings out there, either eating dinner at the bistro set or having a beer on the sofa. We are REALLY working on our green thumbs this year! I started tomatoes, am transplanting some Crepe Myrtles, & a raised garden is in the works! We’re also training some wisteria, & I cannot wait for my new Gardenia to bloom – it’s one of my favorite smells. In the meantime, we’re busy killing our grass (see Thankful on Thursday) & basically getting everything ready & perfect for it to be a boy’s paradise in a few years.
& that’s pretty much it! It’s not huge, it’s not fancy, but it’s our home & we love all of the personal touches.
Y’all come back now…ya here?

Love your house! It is just too sweet. That outdoor space is wonderful.
TOOO cute! Love it!
I have:
a) a giant fork & spoon
b) that EXACT wine/booze cabinet (one of the things Michael brought with him when we merged our stuff)
c) that EXACT trifle/fruit bowl & those EXACT canisters (or ones that look just like them anyway)
PROOF that we are long-lost Southern-girl kindred spirits. <3
Beautiful house! I love that you framed fabric from your first couch, what a sweet idea!
PS: I forgot to say, CUTE SPACE. I also forgot to say: I was already peeking in your windows. From the flower beds, remember?
I love it! I'm a little bummed to not have the video with the pitcher of tea, but I'll live. You have a fabulous house.
Beautiful house! Thanks for sharing!
Oh my gosh. Your house is great! I love the outdoor space and all the personal touches with the pictures. Great ideas. Also, love all the china. Very cool.
I am in love with your house – it's so beautiful and inviting, with all of those wonderful details and personal touches.
Beautiful home! Very southern cozy which reminds me of my own house! I also have the black iron candle holders that you have hanging over your guest bed!
By the time I got my house as clean as yours, the twitter home tour phase would be over…and two years would have came and gone.
Love the loft landing. I wish I had some kind of rec area. Cute house!
Um, your house is gorgeous! Lucky duck!
I love it. I love how you have so many personal touches (the fabric from the couch for example). Your house makes me all happy inside. We are trying to sell our house right now (the husband already owned it before I met him), so it is very neutral. I can't wait to get a new house and really make it our own.
It feels as much a home as it looks here – comfortable, warm and full of love! I am blessed to have been welcomed in to it =)
I loooove your home. I want it. I like your dining room how it is.. love the brown walls.
A lovely home! I'm so glad to hear you say counter space is more important than granite and stainless – couldn't agree more! Your screened in porch is to die for!
That does it. I'm painting m guest room. And my kitchen. And our office. All these houses with gorgeous colors on the walls and making me hate, hate, hate all the boring pale colors the previous owner of my house left me. I'm going to a paint store this weekend and getting chips and making some decisions. Thank you Twitter House Tour for galvanizing me into action!
Oh yeah, Your house is lovely Blair!
Love this post… AND so jealous of your home! It's like a real grown up home! I'm about to put my house on the market after 5 years of inhabiting it – and I'm nervous!
The kitchen is a MUST for me too – an island, counter space and I REALLY REALLY want a gas stove next house…. One of my pet peeves…. residual heat on an electric stove. I grew up cooking on gas and I just want one again…. so bad!
Also – I too collect Christmas China….since I was like 16. My grandmother, mother, aunt, sister, cousin and I all have the same Christmas china. My grandmother started our collection and my aunt continues every holiday that requires a present to give us a few pieces of our china. When my grandmother passed away we split her 16 setting between all of us and all of her serving pieces… it's a awesome tradition and I LOVE IT! so no laughing here about your china collection!
Have a great weekend Blair
Still saying prayers for you that each day continues with happiness, health, generosity and hope!

Sweet southern style! Gorgeous.
So pretty! Just want I pictured! I can't wait to post mine tomorrow. I hate being one of the "starters" and not posting, but eh, you know the week I had. Stop by,will you?
Very cute! I love the wall color in Harrison's room. I thought it was funny that you mentioned that you guys have slept on a queen-size bed for the last four years. We are still sleeping on a full! My mom bought me my mattress when I moved out of the house 11+ years ago, and it's still going strong.
Beautiful!
If you are looking for a great olive color for your master bedroom – I just painted mine Brookside Moss by Benjamin Moore and it is awesome!
I officially want a wine and booze cabinet.
LOVE your house, esp the dining room! Well done, Blair!
now i feel like i need to go home, clean & show people my rustic-ness. heh.
i come haz visit? and sleepz over? yes?
Lovely! What a thorough tour and O THE CHINA! Is that a southern thing or just a Blair thing? We nearly didn't register for any (but I am ridiculously glad we did).
I also love all the character of the paneling and wainscoting in the dining room. Thanks for having us over!
i ADORE your home. ADORE. now considering becoming a stalker to see more of the inside. smootchies.
Thanks for sharing your home with us! I love your style and you may have caused me to desire some remodeling… uh oh.
I think this is my first comment…Your home is so lovely, warm, and inviting! It makes ME want to nest:).
I too, am a china hoarder. Wish I would have thought to show INSIDE my cabinet!! Great house, mama. I'm already on the Etsy shop checking shiz out.
I love the colors you used in your house! There's a dark, earthy feel to it and that is just so vogue!
Thanks for the tour! Hope you get a chance to come by mine:)
I love your house, especially the porch! I'm so jealous!
I do have a question for you though…I am due to give birth to our first child in August (a boy), and I am wading into the Great Baby Bumper Debate! I don't know what to do about having it in the crib. Did you keep Harrison's bumper on the whole time, or did you put it back on after a certain month? I'm clueless as to whether this is a legitimate problem, or one of those over-the-top issues that people get their panties in a wad over?! Any advice would be great! Thanks!
Hey Carey!
We are a bumper household & have been since the day Harrison came home. I have never had issue with them & Dr. Hottie told me that essentially, he believes the hoopla over bumpers, fans, etc. are more "fluff" surrounding SIDS than is necessary. (not to belittle SIDS or anyone who has suffered it). He said the important thing is to a) keep Harrison on his back & b) keep blankets out of the crib.
We'll take them out when he starts using them as launching devices to get out of his crib.
This is awesome. I so wish I was together enough to participate. (Although coincidentally I did post a photo of my living room wall today…does that count?) I love getting to peek inside everyone's houses, and I love those prints in your hall!
Love your house Blair!! I don' t know if I'm more in love with the way you decorated it or the way you keep it clean? I'm so going home tonight to clean my house now!!
What a cool idea to frame your wedding invitation. Our master bedroom walls are so bare and that would be a great addition!!
How many square feet is your house? It seems very spacious!!
I took the bumper pads in Abbie's crib & stuffed them far down between the mattress & crib that they cover the sides of the mattress. It's impossible for her to get underneath them. I don't think a crib is a crib without bumper pads.
Thank you!!
SO jealous of your porch. I would loooove something like that. Although in Michigan it'd only get used about 4 or 5 months out of the year but so what!!!
I also have the Euphoria that the husband bought me on my 21st birthday… going on 5 years and it's still more than 3/4 full- I really do like it though
I picked it out myself.
I LOVE your fork and spoon! I have the set from Pottery Barn but yours appear to be much larger than mine (20inches). Where did you get them!?
love the house!!! i have 4 china patterns so i am even dorkier than you!
Love the house! and I love the idea that your room is just yours!
That is totally the EXACT SAME dining room table we have. And you're the third person on this tour (including me) with that palm-leaf ceiling fan. Ours are on the porch too!!
I adore the color in the nursery and need to find something to paint immediately.
Could you come and decorate my house now, please? You have a beautiful home! Thanks for inviting us all in.
Love your home! Where is your dining room set from? I'm in the market for dining room furniture and think yours is beautiful
Beautiful home! I love all of the personal touches!!
You have a lovely home. Thanks for sharing it with us!
So cute! What a perfect home to start a family
Absolutely beautiful!
My parents slept in a queen size bed for 25 years before they upgraded. I, on the other hand, already know that the man I marry will not only need his OWN bed, but possibly his own room. And I wonder why I'm still single…
I love all of your personal touches. I've been struggling with how to decorate our house and it's slowly (really slowly) coming along – my biggest challenge has been how to add personal touches but not overdo it. You accomplished that beautifully?
PS. Do people say that a queen isn't big enough? Husband and I slept in a twin bed for YEARS before upgrading to the queen. I get elbowed in the chin much less now.
Wait, I thought your dining room was your mom's bedroom? Didn't expect to see a table there.
I'm sad that your guest room is nicer than my own regular bedroom
I'm jealous! And LOVE your outdoor space, I need something nice like that to relax!!
I have and olive green room too!
great post –
I have the same DR set – I looooooooooooove it! I recently noticed some "compression dimples" on the top and I am devastated – we used it twice ( new house) with padding/tablecloths etc.
It bugs me so bad! Have you had this issue? I talked to a furniture medic and he didn't have any real ideas on fixing it. It makes my heart sink.
TFS!
P.S. the dining set was discontinued – everybody comments on it and wants it! I was surprised because it seemed so popular. I was thinking of getting glass cut for the table top – because I figured that you can really only see the compression "dings" from the side angle. Tacky?
ehhhh, I don't know if it's tacky! But i think the dings give it character
I'm also laughing because it was discontinued! It was from JC Penney, for all that are interested. Sorry! But they may have some similar stuff on their site now.
I love your house!! I absolutely love the fork and spoon, those are so cute. I wish I had a spot from them!!
Your tour was great! I could only wish my house was as clean or as put together as yours. Three years later we still haven't formally decorated because I keep waiting till we renovate. And I procrastinated. Might have to change that now.
Wicked jealous of your decorating skills! Your house is beautiful, I love all the personal touches, very nice!
Thanks for the tour. Your home is lovely.
Love love love your house! I am in mid redec of my living room. I just posted a picture the other day if you want to check it out. As soon as my last item arrives I'm posting a Before/After!
Lovely home Blair! I like your duvet a lot and the porch, it is beautiful!
Very nice! My husband would kill for a giant fork and spoon!
I read your blog often and I just thought I’d say keep up the amazing work!
I love your style (down to the pink kitchen mixer) but I love your commentary even more. You are seriously hilarious – in a good way
Your house is GORGE! Thanks for the tour. Will take you up on that drink sometime…but how about a glass of vino?
Love it-I especially love your dining room set, that is very similar to one that I want really badly if we get the new digs…I love black and wood. Not sure why, I just do.
And I dig the fact that you have no pics of Harry in your sanctum. I like the idea so much, i think I will use it when I have kids.
I am dying for the massive fork and spoon, where did you get them?!
Such a cute post! You have a great house and I love the porch. I have wanted to do something similar as well so I need to get on it! Question, how do you get your pictures on your blog to have that cute black border and those collages you do of Harrison. I love them!
