Do you have talented friends? I do. I have amazing, talented friends with cameras. That attend birthday parties & take five minutes on the front stoop with my family.

and the result has me crying tears of joy.

So we’re trying something new & fun & different here today – a Stella & Dot Trunk Show! You know those weird parties that you go to for your friends? You show up, you have some snackies, & you sit down to watch a woman in a blazer with weird puffs on it & pink lipstick tell you why her tote bags are amazing & she uses words like “TO DIE FOR” and “PRECIOUS” and “MAKES YOU LOOK SO __(enter name of company)__.”
& then they pass around a sheet of paper where you are obligated BY FRIENDSHIP to put down your email address, praying it goes directly into spam for the rest of eternity because really, you can do without a monogrammed toilet paper holder because it’s just going to help you wipe your ass, thankyouverymuch.
This is not one of “those” trunk shows. At all. Because a) we’re giving away something free & b) you don’t have to fill out a weird form & c) nobody is standing over your shoulder doing the awkward peer pressure thing. The cool thing is, Shelby & I are so not sure how this will pan out. It’s a first for both of us & completely UNCHARTED VIRGIN TERRITORY. At least, for us.
A little background: Stella & Dot has been in the jewelry business since 2008, featured in tons of magazines with cool celebrities & all that jazz.
Giveaway time! How would you love to win this bad boy? It’s the Bloom Flower Ring. ::swoon::
Yellow is SO MY THING this spring. I don’t even know why because normally, it’s not an excellent color on me. But I think after a winter of grey & black & depression, I am all about some bright colors. & this is gorgeous. & fun. & girly.
So basically, I’m jealous of whoever wins it. & I’ll draw the winner on Friday!
Rules & Obligations for Giveaway!
Want an extra entry?
(If I had a little girl, come the end of April I would be “squeeing” over their new line, aka the pink pearls to the left.)
Now onto the “trunk show” part.
Like I said. No pressure, just a fun giveaway & a cool experiment! Enjoy!
Part of battling PPD is the non-medication aspect – visualization, meditation, prayer, avoiding triggers. On weekdays, work is a God-send. (holy crap, I never thought I’d say that) As much as I still dream of staying home, I know that right now, the most healthy thing is getting me out of the house & keeping me distracted. So weekends tend to be problematic because there’s just so much…free time. To think. To sleep. To wish I was non-existent. To let myself spiral out of control.
SO WE GET MY RAPIDLY DECREASING ASS OUTSIDE.
I cannot tell you how good it is to get me moving – in the sun, get my heart rate up, endorphins going. So those weekends when I want to beg Nate to let me wallow in bed all day, we get outside. We avoid the downward spiral. & this past weekend, that meant a picnic in the park, a good mile jog, & tons of sunshine & 80-degree weather.
Packed up some peanut butter & jelly, slathered the boy in sunscreen & Baby Legs, & had a sweet little picnic with my boys.
They are handsome & wonderful & a ton of fun, no? & I love spring. Love the touches of bright green popping up everywhere, reminding me that brighter, fuller days are ahead for all of us.
