Tonight while carpooling home, I slapped my knee & proclaimed, “BABY! Are you ready for news that will blow your mind?!”
(my besties will tell you that i tend to do that – i actually slap my knee & holler when i have REALLY awesome news. like a redneck. in kitten cole haan heels)
He smiles & says, “Sure, lay it on me.”
I shook my head & said, “Seriously. I don’t think you’re ready for this. AT ALL.” & I guess my voice got very serious & low. Because all the color from Nate’s face drained & he said, “OH SHIT. You’re pregnant?!?!”
WHAT?!?! NO!!!! But you know…thanks for letting me know how you’d react. ::snort::
p.s. in his defense, my psychiatrist told me on no uncertain terms am i to become pregnant. so his response should i have actually been with child would have been appropriate.

LOL Nate! So what was what you were telling him?!
Hahahaha… you left us hanging.
What was the news?
Hahahaha…I did something similar to my husband once, only we weren't driving. If we were, I think we would have ended up in a ditch!
Now we all want to know–what is the news?
I think my hubby DID react like that when I told him we were having #2 (with a 12 month old crying in his crib). So what was the news??
Blair, that's not very nice. You shouldn't leave us hanging!
Blair darlin'…whattheeff was the news???
You know I'm nosey!! What's the news?
um way to have a cliffhanger, i feel like i just watched a season finale cliffhanger, and wont find out what happened till the begining of next season !!!! please tell us!
I think I would react like Nate if I was pregnant. Yikes!
::snort:: That's hillarious.
I think I may tell Husband I'm pregnant for April Fool's Day. He'll probably explode….
LOL – I do the slapping thing too, except I'm usually smacking his arm as I start to tell him.
What's the news!?
You know Blair, they make pregnancy tests that will come out positive in case you ever feel to pull this prank on him in the future.
hello??
yeah we used to joke about having "irish twins" but now that we have a 4month old, that joke is no longer funny!! a couple of weeks after our baby was born, i actually had a nightmare that i was pregnant again… i am definitely NOT ready!
{btw this is totally unrelated, but i just wanted to say that i have been following your story for a while – we were on the bump messageboards at the same time (my son is a few wks younger than yours) – and i've been wanting to tell you that i think it's really courageous of you to share about ppd, and i think you're doing a great job of pulling through it, and i love that you sometimes go running on your lunch break in a dress and sneakers!!}
EEEeee! Want to know news!
You tease!
You shall know in due time!
No fair! You cant leave me like this :/
OK, now I want to know what the knee-slapping news really was. Is that stalker-y?
You can't just leave us hanging like that!
hmm, perhaps you will be a speaker at BlogHer…
Not fair!!!!!
I touch the tip of my nose with my right pointer finger when I am thinking…??? I have NO idea where that comes from….

eeek cliffhanger!!!
haha it was opposite for us when we found out with our 2nd.. i checked the test too soon and thought it was negative and then the hubby came back in and was like….not to freak you out but there are definitely two lines! haha. we were excited (at moments we are freaking out occasionally hehe) but with this being baby#2 we are feeling like pro's…sorta….haha. But that is so classic how your hubby reacted! it's an amazing thing but at the same time it can be like ah!
love your blog.
Why do men ALWAYS jump to that conclusion?!?! Seriously. If I say "Guess what?!" his auto-response is "You're pregnant." No sweetie, I'm not, and I don't want to be for AWHILE.
