Wedding.

cakesmash Wedding. Have I told y’all about the time that I shoved cake in Nate’s face & it was totally socially appropriate?  & then he licked it off my fingers even though we were in a Southern Baptist reception hall?!  Scandalous!

But you know, the licking was okay.  Because we were married & even if you’re Baptist, you’re totally allowed to lick your spouse.  EVERYWHERE.  Just not in reception halls.

July 8, 2006.  The day that I manipulated trapped connived insisted was hot damn lucky enough that Nate met me at the end of a very long aisle.  As you know, brevity is not my style & it’s a little daunting to write down your wedding day.  I mean, it’s your WEDDING DAY.  Where you stood before God, family, friends, & your other half & pledged your life to another person.  Daunting does not even do it justice.

blog6 Wedding.Especially when faced with someone that RIDICULOUSLY good looking & knowing that he was committing the same in return.  & I kept thinking, “HURRY!” on the vows before Nate realized he was too good for me & ran.

Despite this, I was not nervous at all.  I was so relaxed throughout the day, & almost drove my parents crazy at 5pm when I still hadn’t left the house for the church (we married at 7 pm).  I shrugged & said, “Daddy, what are they going to do? Start without me?”

& despite dancing in the driveway for 30 minutes to scuff my shoes, I still worried I’d eat carpet while trying to ascend the stairs.  But then the doors swung open…& I honestly don’t remember much past wanting to RUN to Nate, but Daddy holding my arm back.

blog8 Wedding.Nate said he was thankful everyone stared at me, since he was bit his lip so hard he couldn’t tell if he was crying over me or his lip.

A huge dress.  Music.  Daddy stepping on my dress as he gave me away.  A unity candle.  Some prayers & readings from the Book of Ruth.  & as our pastor pronounced us husband & wife, I jumped up & down & squealed.   & as the entire congregation laughed, Nate pulled me in for the best kiss of my life, finally sealing the deal.

blog7 Wedding.

WE WERE MARRIED.  Nothing else mattered.  It did not matter that there was no champagne toast, or that the groomsmen forgot to decorate the getaway car.  It did not matter that we barely ate, that the reception was FAR too short, or that I lost my necklace (somehow).  Because we were together.  MARRIED.

I love wedding stories, your's was great :)

  20. AWWWWW – I too was totally calm, cool and collected on our wedding day, it didn't "hit me" until I was just about to walk down the aisle and then I had to fight back the tears.

  21. Great post! I too wasn't anxious, just giddy and happy. Then one of my friends called to tell me that all of the groomsmen were going to be late to the church. Then I got all bridezilla for about 2 minutes (first and only time mind you). My grandma handed me a glass of champagne, which I downed in 10 seconds, and was back to my giddy self.

I love thinking back to my wedding day. It was one of the happiest days of my life, partly because I was so laid-back about it. I think I was able to enjoy it more.

Gorgeous dress by the way! And while you are always talking about how hot your hubby is, you looked stunning on your wedding day!

ah, I love a good sappy wedding story! LOOOOVE the dress!! A friend of mine is getting married in December and I am re-living my happy day through her. 31. Corinne says:

I'm pretty sure you and I have the same wedding dress.

  32. Danielle says:

I also tied the knot on 7/8/06. Great minds think alike!

Also, I LOLed that you said you were afraid you were going to "eat carpet" . . . because, you know, I'm 13.

  33. metta1313 says:

Call me sappy or sentimental, but this got me tearing up a bit.
