Happy Belated Valentine’s! & a big fat middle finger to the three boxes of chocolates in my pantry, compliments of my mother-in-law! (seriously y’all…they are CALLING MY NAME. They even gave me a nickname – “sweet little sugar dumplings.” and they CALL ME. So Nate is taking them to work tomorrow).
I lost 1 lb this week – happy about the loss & knowing that eventually, it would slow down. I just need to make sure I’m getting in all the veggies & I definitely need to start a full-time exercise routine. Side note: when I look at the first McFatty picture & then where I am today…let’s just say that I’ve never done weight loss with pictures before, but it is a STRONG motivator.
I think I’m starting to hit the spot where I miss “real” food. I miss cooking. Especially when I’m torturing myself by perusing Ree Drummond’s website. But then I realize…I really, really love not thinking about what I’m going to eat. & I still have a ton of weight to lose & with this working, I don’t want to mess up a good thing. I have found that I’m starting to get the itch to “cheat” more, but I think in some ways, it’s a good thing. I cheated with one chocolate chip cookie straight out of the oven that Nate made yesterday – but I only ate ONE. So in some ways, I think this is re-teaching me that just eating one cookie really is okay. Shockingly enough, the universe will survive if cookies are left on a plate longer than an hour! & since I ate a cookie, I had motivation to get moving to burn it off – so I plopped Harrison in the stroller, grabbed Tuck, & we went out for a good long walk. It felt so good to get moving but by Mile 2, my thighs were burning. You’d think that labor & delivery itself would put me in the running for Olympic gold, but I am exponentially out of shape compared to where I was even a year ago.
But I was so overly proud of myself for actually exercising - did you do anything new this week?? Maybe get in all your water, or pick up weights for the first time, or try a new recipe?
In random news, a few weeks ago the nice folks at EatSmart took notice of McFatty Mondays & offered to upgrade my scale. I had been stepping on a cheap piece of plastic that literally cracked every time I hopped on. Yes, cracked. I am slowly breaking my scale (if that wasn’t motivation to stay away from those sweetly calling chocolates, I don’t know what is). Thanks to the VP and his team, I am now weighing in on this sleek little number, that shows quite a big number. Also a far more accurate number, since it measures every 0.2 lbs instead of every half-pound. It’s also nice to not have such an eye-sore for a scale since we leave it out, nor will it break the bank like some scales. (ummm…yeah. I looked at pretty ones before & they were ranging into the $100+ territory at Bed, Bath, & Beyond. I’m really not into investing that kind of money into a scale unless it’s got Jillian Michaels herself trapped inside).
& because it’s pretty, I’m less inclined to throw it out the window when it tells me something I don’t want to hear.

You really do look great! The progress pictures are incredibly helpful.
Here's my post:

I never thought that the picture taking would be so inspiring…I think I'm going to try the same thing. Maybe it will hold me accountable? Congrats on the weight loss…you look great! My biggest problem in terms of weight loss is that I love to bake. Not eating your own creations is pretty difficult. This week, my husband and I decided to give up soda for lent. So, I'm going to try to increase my water intake. Good luck this week!
Keep it up Blair! You can really see the results! By the way, hows the Dirty Shred going?! LOL
dude, I started my period 2 days into it & it was a doozy. Injustice! & I'm totally not into crime scene sex, so it's on pause until this massacre stops. I'm hoping tonight.
I am feeling the need to detox this week. I had started WW shortly after the birth of my DS and have lost 12 lbs. Well this weekend I was totally out of control, so my goal for the day is to drink 100 oz of water and stay on track with my points!
http://changingtheuniverse.blogspot.com/2010/02/m…
I'm back on track this week, WOOHOO! Down 2+ pounds.
Check out my post for a yummy WW cornbread recipe.
Keep it up, Blair, you are looking fantastic!
way to go! Now you just need Nate on board with you and his mother so they stop buying you chocolate and making cookies!
You've convinced me to take pics next time. Even on weeks that you don't lose a lot of weight, you can see a difference.
Where, oh where did you get those curtains?! I think they might be just agar I've been searching for!
Stupid iPhone. Just WHAT I've been searching for.
JC Penneys! But 3 years ago…I looked & they don't even have them at their outlet anymore. Sorry!
http://corinnesshred.blogspot.com/2010/02/why-can…
I'm glad someone's losing weight still. Lol. I have stayed put on my weight this week.
Sweet scale!!! We just got a new one too and love it! Um..I don't remember the brand though..
Congrats on the exercising, you go!!
Remember Blair it is okay to cheat and dont' consider it cheating, think of it as not depriving yourself of something you love. And good job on only having one.
I actually did peel myself off the couch for some yoga which I have to admit wasn't all too horrible!
Good job everyone!
This week's post http://newlywedlife-vinceheidi.blogspot.com/2010/…
You're looking great Blair! Keep it up! I posted the workout on my blog. It's finally up!
I also exercised. I ran solo this weekend and I'm hurting, but it's so worth the pain. I love that I feel the burn. We also got a new carrier for R and I walked with her and the dogs too. Lots of calories burned and muscles toning. I love your new scale. We don't own one….but I'm ok with that, I'd rather measure my success in pant sizes! Check out my not so fit and fabulous Monday post. Keep up the good work!!!
FINALLY! Success this week!
http://getskinnystat.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfatty…
Ohhh, that IS a pretty new scale! I have a weight watchers scale that measures within 0.2 as well. I know the blessed thing works because it always says what my Dr.'s office scale says and that bitch don't lie.
Le sigh. Reading about your cookie-eating willpower makes my cookie-eating will power look like the flabby mess it really is. Good job only eating one cookie! At least one of us had some restraint this week….
Here's my confession of how I didn't have restraint. Even while super-ill.
http://playgrounddiva.blogspot.com/2010/02/one-ba…
Very pretty new toy. The pics are looking great. Confession: I didn't do a post this week. I said F-You to the diet the past couple of days. I haven't gained, but no loss either. I think I needed the break. I'm mentally prepared to get back into the game!
Sorry, this was supposed to be from me…delete the one above!
from smartchoicewin – You’re looking great Blair! Keep it up! I posted the workout on my blog. It’s finally up!
Great job on the weight loss! A pound is a pound. They all add up to the greater goal is how I look at it. I exercised again last week. Only once but the personal trainer is kicking my butt to where I still feel the burn for 3-4 days afterwards.
I really need to take pictures as I still have another 40 pounds to lose and I love seeing how much of a difference even 15 pounds makes.
http://jenislosingthebabyweight.blogspot.com/2010…
New to McFatty Mondays here! Blair, you look great, and nice job on only eating one cookie. I need to step away from the leftover cupcakes from my DD's birthday party this weekend. I did exercise for the first time PP, though, I took both kids out in our mammoth double stroller. That's double the exercise karma, right?
My post is on! http://www.thencomebananas.blogspot.com
I lost 1.5 pounds this week! Yay! I've been working out Monday-Friday (I teach PE and I've been kicking their butts and mine) but the eating habits aren't so good. I'm sooooo addicted to sweet tea. If hubby would just stop giving in and getting me a gallon from Chick-fil-A I'd be ok. But I do have some Thin Mints calling my name!
Congrats on the continued success. I too got a new scale and am much happier with it. My old one liked to toy with my emotions. I also have been tempted with V-day foods…red velvet cake. ( I write all abut it in this week's post.)
http://365daysofbeing30andamommy.blogspot.com/201…
16lbs is great! Congratulations! If you need another source of motivation, that's probably close to how much Harrison weighs. Think of that the next time you carrying him around!
I'm down another pound this week for a total of 3. 8 lbs to go to hit my first goal. Have a great week!
http://auntp.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfatty-monday-…
Haha! Funny you say this to Blair, because I just blogged this morning about how I'm aiming to 'Lose a Luca' (aka my daughter, who's 27 pounds.)!
You look great!!!! You can really tell a difference. Keep up the good work! And remember, it's ok to cheat every so often!
I didn't do anything different this week, but I managed to lose 2 lbs!
Here's my post… http://eviemakes3.blogspot.com/2010/02/success-fi…
Oh, and your progress pictures inspired me to post pictures displaying my enourmous thighs and stretch marks.
Wow…your pictures don't show that! If you only saw mine you would appreciate yours!
Love the new scale! It's so shiny and pretty. Maybe I'll invest in one myself, if I can manage to turn off the Food Network for long enough to get off the couch. Here's my McFatty post: http://zainylainy.wordpress.com/2010/02/15/food-n…
I just bought that same exact scale from Amazon last week! I had super expensive Homedics one from our wedding registry prior, and I was getting so sick of the numbers changing plus or minus 5 pounds everytime I got on or off!
I like this new one except it seems to get stuck on a number and not lessen even when I purposely put less weight on it.
I didn't do anything new this week, just continued plugging away on my current routine since it's working so well. I lost 2 more pounds this week so I'm down 17. 25-30 to go eek
http://plmassing.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfatty-mon…
I need a new scale, bad!
Taking pics is a great motivator-I started doing the same, just not weekly. I am going to start focusing on my diet a lot more now-I did the opposite of you, work out first, then diet
) You look great!
I'm proud of you- I admire your willpower
http://bigsmilesformama.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfa…
Pictures are definitely the way to go – just looking back on a couple of months ago I can see the difference and it helps me put the fork down. Most of the time anyway
Great job! http://thsoapscumavenger.blogspot.com/2010/02/hap…
Ooh, I have that scale!
Congrats on the weight loss… lookin' good!
I really like this Mcfatty Monday idea. I'm not exactly in the market for losing any body weight, but I am trying to eat better and tone. I'm just jealous that you get to get outside and take walks which is something I can't do until probably April thankyouverymuchMichiganweather.
Another small loss for me this week, but a loss is a loss! You're doing so well!!
http://theazkahles.blogspot.com/2010/02/losing-lu…
The pictures do tell the tale! You are braver than I for posting them too!
Here's my post: http://spawnofsmith.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfatty-…
Congrats on the success Blair! I've been following you blog for a while now, and recently decided to join in on McFatty Mondays!
Here is my first post! http://jeansandpearls.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfatt…
Go Blair! You are looking really good and help me keep going. We are about the same weight, but you pull it off better than me
This week I got new shoes! I think that helped me a ton! Here is my post about it: http://nikandnoelle.blogspot.com/2010/02/30-ds-wh…
Later!
Congrats on doing great! Except now I have a craving for chocolate chip cookies… grrr Kudos for walking too! I don't think I could make it 2 miles yet…
That scale looks pretty sharp!
http://diamondsonthefloor.blogspot.com/2010/02/ye…
Everytime I read your posts, I am at work and almost pee my pants from trying *not* to laugh out loud. You look fabulous by the way. My favorite part was " (I’m really not into investing that kind of money into a scale unless it’s got Jillian Michaels herself trapped inside)."
Becuase I really wish they sold that product. I started back on january 4th with you and my best friend. I am down 18lbs. and have 45 more to go….7 until my March 12th goal. you have been such an inspiration and I am thinking I may have to start the picture documentation. I wish i would have started back 18lbs ago… Good Luck!!!!!!!
Great Job Blair! I actually excercised this week. It felt great, and the baby enjoyed it (Mommy and Me Yoga, Pilates, and Baby Massage). I only managed to do it once, but it's a start!
haha, I like your new scale, and I love that those chocolates gave you a nick name. lol, you seriously crack me up. I just love it
http://hotpinkvixen.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfatty-…
My new attempt? Yoga. Yeah no. ha
Blair, you.are.hotness. One week in and I'm down 1.5 lbs. I'm glad for that…I'm glad for MM, doing things when you know you're not alone is motivating.
Here's the post for the week:
<a>MM Week 1
for some reason, my links don't like your comments section
http://journeyofamrs.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfatty…
Looking good Blair! Here's my post:
http://nicolebuchalla.blogspot.com/2010/02/back-o…
OMG Blair! You look great. Your MIL tales crack me up! Were they Kotex shaped chocolates? What about Snoopy themed?
But HOW DARE YOU link to Amazon on your personal blog. The world is going to collapse into a pile of rubble two years early!
Anyways—here's my not so inspiring McFatty Monday post. Here's to exercise!
http://mollybrynn.blogspot.com/2010/02/so-close-y…
I thought of your McFatty Mondays the other night while I was watching a comedian on Comedy Central. He was talking about how men complain about not seeing their wives naked enough. His solution, "Put the scale in your living room…not a woman on God's earth weighs herself fully clothed." Hilarious.
When I was seriously losing weight, I joined a website called SparkPeople.com
It's completely free and it helped me lose 20 pounds. It's amazing. It's chock full of support groups, nutrition and exercise trackers and even a full site full of diet-friendly recipes.
Another "trick" I did was allow myself ONE DAY to cheat. I ate anything I wanted without guilt… One day a week. The rest of the time I counted my calories and kept track of what went into my mouth. But that one day, I was allowed to splurge. It really helped me a lot!!!
I cheated this week for the first time in 6 weeks. Boo.
http://matahouse.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfatty-mon…
Hear, hear!
This is my Re-do week. An injury kept me sidelined last week and I used it as an excuse to drown my sorrows in a tub of ice cream and anything else I could get my hands on.
Is Nutrisysyem really worth it? Now that I gave up my full time job, I doubt I could afford it, but nonetheless, I've always wanted to try it. I need something like that, because I don't know how to cook anything that doesn't involve butter and other fatty good things.
One thing that I did come up with on my own: Cheesy Ranch Popcorn. Just microwave a bag of FF popcorn and sprinkle on a little grated Parmesan Cheese and Ranch dressing powder. You can also do taco seasoning and Ranch dressing powder for a little fiesta in your mouth. It's a pretty satisfying snack and it's 100 calories for a WHOLE BAG!! I'm usually a chips and dip kind of girl-Doritos and Sour Cream are AMAZING together- and this totally satisfied my craving. Hopefully next week I'll have some poundage lost, and maybe the courage to post a picture.
http://imo-fwiw.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfatty-mond…
Blair that is so awesome. I am going to try the picture thing I do think that would be a huge motivator
I need to lose about 50 pounds. I know I would feel so awesome if I would just do it.
Good luck!.

Your progress is awesome, and enviable! Way to go getting out in the February weather–you're a brave woman. I know it had to feel great.
As for what "new" thing i did this week: I gave up and ate myself into oblivion!
Here's my McFatty Fail post:
http://marblesrolling.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfatt…
I'm joining in on the fun. I did my first McFatty Monday post today. This is so much fun! And congrats on your weight loss so far. That is so great!
You look thinner, one can see that! Congrats! I still have to lose 15 pounds (I almost lost all my pregnancy weight, but I want to lose more). But I don't have the time to exercise or to eat right. I'll just eat whatever I can whenever my little girl is asleep (and that rarely happens). So, it will take some time for me to lose the weight, but it's no big deal for me. Anyway, am I happy for you!
I'm taking your advice and doing photos to try and boost my non-existent loss. I've lost inches, just no weight!
http://thedivasmom.blogspot.com/2010/02/mcfatty-m…
I can tell that you look different without even seeing your starting pic Blair! Way to go!
And I totally feel your pain about the chocolate and other crap sitting in the pantry. I hate getting Valentines/Easter/Halloween candy b/c all I want to do is eat, eat, eat. I guess the only thing that helps me is to get rid of it, have the husband take it to work!
My mcfatty monday post: http://jvanddv.blogspot.com/2010/02/i-finally-fck…
I'm teriffied of progress pictures (mine, not yours, yours look great!), here is my post http://rowserfamily.blogspot.com/2010/02/hi.html
I'm totally late, but I made my first goal and got under 180!
I passed along a treat for you at my blog. Congrats! (also, despite the title, there is no candy. Sorry.)
Could you go into more detail on this? Btw, the advice you gave me is really good.
