BYO…snack?

We’ve already established my adoration of all things Carter’s.  It is almost a sickness, but their stuff is just so damn cute.  But I do have a bone to pick with this particular cotton sleep n’ play, as modeled above.

It is obviously a “jungle” theme.  Monkeys.  Lions.  Hippos.  Frogs.  And…puppies?  Are there any puppies native to the jungle lands?  Did I miss that biology lesson?

All I can think of is that the invite to this outfit requested that everyone bring a snack, & the lion opted for the tasty, yet fattening, puppy dog.

To which Harrison says, WTF?!?!

Listen, Carter’s design team — I’d appreciate it if you’d let me teach my son the Circle of Life on my own time, much like those pesky birds & bees.  What next, jammies that sport the Trojan man?

    Maybe it's a Hyena :-)

  2. Kelly says:

Ummm…have you seen the Grover peeling the banana on the Pampers Swaddlers diapers?? That's an inuendo that the hubs and I can't ignore everytime we change our son's diaper!! I feel like writing them. No other character is eating or has a "prop"!! Ahh the things we find in our sleep deprived states.

  3. Steffy says:

Carters also made the lion, monkey, elephant, PIG blanket my son loves so much. I've wondered about the combination a lot. The bring your own snack idea has merit!

  4. jenifer says:

Why are the animals upside? So cute though, I too love Carters. Except my son is now in 12 month and they are shrinking within one wash. Im moving him up to 18 month sizes now.

  5. Natalie says:

Everyone knows puppies roam free in the jungle, duh.

    Vicious, blood-thirsty jungle puppies.

Seriously though, good eye. I don't think I would have even noticed that fearsome jungle pup.

  6. Jessica says:

Hmm. I thought they were friendly looking warthogs at first glance, but you're right. Puppies. How odd.

  7. DD says:

And do I spy a blue cow?

  8. bellakq says:

My son had a Carter's onesie that featured jungle animals… elephant, lion, parrot, etc…. AND dinosaurs. At least puppies roamed the earth at the same time as jungle creatures. My son's onesie was a complete anachronism! Oh Carter's… so cute and yet so inaccurate!

    How's Harrison's reflux?

  9. Alison Gaines says:

O.M.G. That boy is gorgeous with a capital G. You must be one proud mamma.

  10. Sadako says:

Awww, that is adorable and I want those pjs!

  11. Becca says:

I have the same outfit bellakq was talking about! Jungle animals with dinosaurs…SO odd!!

Please see the outfit in this picture! http://i49.tinypic.com/2870mme.jpg

  12. Kelly says:

I know, right? I'm a biology teacher, so when I was trying to choose bedding and other associated items for my jungle-themed nursery, I had the hardest time finding a biome-appropriate bedding set. Granted, I'm much pickier than associating puppies with jungle animals; I was getting agitated over giraffes being in the jungle. Last time I checked, people, giraffes were in the savanna, the biome in the latitude ABOVE the jungle!

These companies need some serious biology intervention.

  13. Rachel says:

Too funny…it's a cute sleeper none the less! :)

  14. Dorsie says:

We had the same onesie with the jungle animals and the dinosaurs.. we call it the "Creationist" onesie. :) Now we have the same jungle animals and no dinosaurs, DH calls it the "atheist" onesie since they are separated now.

  15. Hold's Mama says:

have you tried the carter's outlet yet? it is amazing :-) your H is adorable even with the random puppy in the jungle!

  16. Yes..and the cow? A voracious jungle creature?? Needless to say Harrison rocks the outfit with maximum cuteness!

  17. stacy says:

I think maybe they were going for a Dingo when they decided to put the puppy on there …. As for the blue cow (I think it's an ox which would make sense given the whole Paul Bunyan thing) it is clearly out of place. You should write them a letter. Their design team needs to be schooled and who else has the cajones to do it?

  18. NGRidley says:

I think the "cow" is what Blair is calling the Hippo. I think it looks like a cow as well.

and why are most of the animal upside down.

oh and Harrison is BEYOND adorable!!!

    • heirtoblair says:

See, Nate & I had a great debate over cow vs hippo. He says cow. I say hippo. & the conundrum continues.

oh, and the question of them being upside down also keeps me awake at night. Good eye.

  19. mmcc54 says:

I just wanted to say I love your blog!! Your making my anxiety lessen, about entering the world of motherhood with your honest posts!! And your son is gorgeous!!

  20. haha – love it! :) Probably something I would have totally missed!

  21. Jessis62781 says:

Um, yeah we have a zoo onesie. Real cute. Elephants, Monkeys, Hippos and….Dinosaurs? Really?

  22. Jen says:

Blair – I just can't get over that gorgeous hair!! He's going to be a heart-breaker for sure!

  23. Heather says:

Griffin has a pair of PJ's from Carters and the animals on it include: Giraffes, Crocodiles, Monkeys… and then a Moose. And a Dinosaur. Reading the other comments I sense a pattern!

  24. The Mommy says:

    Go with hyena. Or something.
