One Year.

harpie pgtest One Year.
and what a year it has been.

Today is a sweet feeling because I remember EXACTLY how it felt to watch that second line appear for the first time in my life. To look over at Nate with the biggest smiles on our faces and say, “OH MY GOD, we made a baby.” & nothing will ever take that joy away.

As a side note, I have “officially” been pregnant all but 6 weeks of an entire year.

MTV Cribs: Baby Edition aka The Nursery

The official debut of Harrison’s nursery, after months of tears, paint touch-ups, many runs to Babies R Us, & hours of laundry folding. I feel like the nursery & I should both be in a white dress, receiving flowers & beaus at the bottom of a winding staircase. What started as the most frustrating experience of my entire pregnancy has turned into a room that I adore.

The crib, from the Essex line of Munire in espresso color. We absolutely adore it. Bedding is “Baby Boats” from Pottery Barn Kids. (the play mat is waiting for batteries & to be moved to the loft, where it will more than likely spend 90% of it’s time)

The refinished dresser…yes, yes, I know there are both lovers & haters of it, but I think it fits perfectly, plus it holds all bibs, burp cloths, sheets & savers, etc.

Dresser/changing table! Also part of Munire’s Essex line. Six drawers stuffed full of clothing. Because my child will not be an exhibitionist.

Sometimes I’m still shocked at all the STUFF this little dude has collected before he’s even pushed through the birth canal! & sometimes, just between you & me, I sit in the glider & just look around, re-folding clothes & thinking of the little boy that will be sleeping in here very soon.

I’M GETTING MOTHER EFFING STRETCHMARKS ON MY MOTHER EFFING FEET.

This is where I draw the line. I am proud of my belly stretchies. I can deal with the ones on my knees & calves. BUT I DRAW THE LINE AT FEET.

fwiw, my foot looks AWESOME in this picture after hoisting it above my heart for 3 hours while we watched Goonies. It’s amazing how my perspective of what constitutes “awesome” has changed in the past few weeks.

39 Week Belly Picture

39weeks 1024x767 39 Week Belly Picture
How far along? 39 weeks.
Total weight gain: 45 lbs. I was only up 25 lbs at 33 weeks. I’m going to let you do the math. & while your at it, please calculate my current water ratio in my body. I’m pretty sure it’s somewhere around 175%.
Maternity clothes? oh, indeed.
Sleep: I drug myself & my child on a nightly basis at this point with the sweet kiss of Benedryl.
Best moment this week: Date night with Nate…out for delicious cheeseburgers, then snuggling with a movie & popcorn.
Movement: He kicks the hell out of my right side.
Gender: boy!
Labor Signs: Tons of cramping & contractions. ZERO dilation, possibly 60% effaced if I’m “lucky.”
Belly Button in or out? In.
What I miss: My patience. I’m 10 seconds from losing my mind all over anyone at any given moment.
What I am looking forward to: Maternity leave!!!!
Weekly Wisdom: Have good friends that are willing to scrub your toilets for you. & make plans with your husband & girlfriends the last few weeks to keep you busy.
Milestones: I have stretchmarks on my feet. Eff me sideways.

Battle wounds.

When God said to go forth & multiply, Phyllis thought that included her as well.
